RATINGS: 70   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.37/5   EST. CALORIES: 150   ABV: 5%
Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Oud Beersel Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Oud Beersel Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Bladder bag/box pour at the brewery, 21/11/15. Very light hazed on a golden yellow beer with no head. Nose is funk, light smokey straw, mellow citric rinds, musty wood, damp cloth, lemon rind. Taste comprises damp hay, wood must, grandads shed light, on the turn melon, lemon peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with sweet and sour conotations. Solid unblended affair.

Sample from tap at Oud Beersel brewery. Pale orange, clear, still, no head. Aroma is dirty, pissy, lemon and the musty smell of the brewery itself. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is lemon, tart and pissy, a bit metallic and dry into the finish. It’s really nice all round up until the metallics in the finish, which detract a bit.

Backlog rating. Keg at CBC CG, London. It pours a hazed pale golden color with almost no head. Aroma is funky and winey with notes of must basement red wine oak and lemon. Tate has some berry jam sweetness upfront with more red wine barrel notes and funk, before turning into a lemony acidic dry finish. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, very tasty

The taste is bitter, musty, sour, lactic, earth, gooseberry, grape, good mouth-pucker, floral notes, wet leaf, damp wood, twig, barnyard and must with a dry finish. medium body and low carbonation. A rather interesting combination. Good.

Tap at WoSF, 2013. It pours hazy amber with small bubbly head. The nose is lightly bitter, earth, leaf, vinous, mild sweetness and salty notes. The taste is ice-team, caramel, raisin, light sugar, peach, tanginess, mouldy wood and some spice. Lightish body and low carbonation. Almost tastes like a faro! Decent balance and drinkability. Not bad.
