COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Oud Beersel Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Oud Beersel Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Poured from a 5L bag in a box?? Weird, but awesome. Date of 28/11/12 written on the label. Pours a hazed, orange colored body with no head. Aroma is fruity and sour with a good amount of acidity and a nice funkiness. Flavor is similar. Pleasantly funky and sour with a nice woodiness, some grapefruits and lemons, and a light cheesiness. Finishes fairly dry and sour before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Light body and almost no carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice straight lambic. Sour, funky, woody, and fruity. Very enjoyable.

Scopey (7052) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2013
Tap at WoSF, 2013. It pours hazy amber with small bubbly head. The nose is lightly bitter, earth, leaf, vinous, mild sweetness and salty notes. The taste is ice-team, caramel, raisin, light sugar, peach, tanginess, mouldy wood and some spice. Lightish body and low carbonation. Almost tastes like a faro! Decent balance and drinkability. Not bad.

Slightly cloudy golden colour, slight diminishing white head. Aroma of citrus, light sour, light sweet touch, light butterscotch. Light sweet flavour, sour touch, citrus, lemon peel, tart hints. Finish citrus, tart, light sour, light sweet.
Nice. I prefered the 1.5yo lambic served inside the brewery over this one, but very tasty nonetheless.
(Draught @ the brewery, visited during Tour de Geuze 2013. When asked it was stated to be a young lambic, though no precise age statement was given)

Bart (2940) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JAN 7, 2013
Draught @ Little Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Yellow slightly hazy hinted coloure with no carbonation and a small diminishing white head. Rather light hinted aroma with touches of sour grainy sweet sour notes. Medium palate. Finish is light sour grainy with a short almost metallic hint. Medium actually (might be slightly infected or too old/ long cracked?). Misses some taste.

Tap at Little Delirium. Light golden colour, clear, small thin white bubbly head. Aroma is apple, fruity, funky, bit of grapefruit. Taste is nice, sour, grapefruit and slightly vinous. Flat and soft. Definitely worth popping in here for one as it always seems to be on the menu.

brokensail (11077) - Orange County, California, USA - OCT 8, 2012
Pale golden pour with no head or carbonation. A really impressive funk aroma of grass, earth, and must. There’s a bit of sulfur to it, but a nice lactic tartness and some citrus fruitiness. A bit of cheese on the palate with a good sourness, some moderate earthy and musty funk, and lots of grass. Quite dry, too.

Pretty nice surprise seeing this on tap @ Little Delirium between an otherwise not terribly palatable beer list - 25 cl. draft - lightly hazy golden with only some lambic bubbles for head - aroma is a bit on the sweeter side lemons, some apples, dusty, light musty horseblanket, quite light - taste is rather sweet lemons, acidity is pretty low, mellow tart apples, peel, lime, light touch horseblanket - flat - this stuff is light, mellow, drinks like water - very, simple, lambic is about as simple as beer gets, quite enjoyable, blending, aging, etc. obviously means obviously a lot for the lambic plus the variations are always huge - they don’t serve the good lambic draft- good lambic is for blending into weaker lambic to have a consistent quality geuze if the other lambic turns out to be of weaker quality or to make special blends - def. better than the old one I tried way back

Bag-in-the-box at Delirium Tremens, Brussels
Hazy golden color, no head. The aroma is medium pungent, a bit lemony, cobwebs, light cheese. The low carbonation provides a soft mouthfeel; mild lemony flavor and mild astringency, not dry. Pleasant and refreshing, although not very complex.

On draught at Little Delirium. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden colour with a lacy white head. Aroma of lemon, horse blanket, wet cardboard and oak. Similar flavours and mildly tart with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.
