Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Oud Beersel Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Oud Beersel Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Pretty nice surprise seeing this on tap @ Little Delirium between an otherwise not terribly palatable beer list - 25 cl. draft - lightly hazy golden with only some lambic bubbles for head - aroma is a bit on the sweeter side lemons, some apples, dusty, light musty horseblanket, quite light - taste is rather sweet lemons, acidity is pretty low, mellow tart apples, peel, lime, light touch horseblanket - flat - this stuff is light, mellow, drinks like water - very, simple, lambic is about as simple as beer gets, quite enjoyable, blending, aging, etc. obviously means obviously a lot for the lambic plus the variations are always huge - they donít serve the good lambic draft- good lambic is for blending into weaker lambic to have a consistent quality geuze if the other lambic turns out to be of weaker quality or to make special blends - def. better than the old one I tried way back

Draught. Finally found an unblemished and it blows me away so much funkier and earthier than other I have tried. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Unclear deep golden color with a small bubbly head that soon vanish. Lots of green apples and wood. Medium body, quite flat carbonation and a pleasant balanced acidity. Rich green apples, wood, some vinegar and citric. Refreshing and nice lambic.

3/V/15 - 75cl bottle @ the brewery during Toer de Geuze 2015 - BB: n/a (2015-596)

Little hazy orange beer, just a few irregular bubbles, no real head. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity, bit sour, green banana, grapefruit, not bitter though, citrus, lemony. Aftertaste: lemon juice, acidic, still fruity, somewhat woody, spicy finish. Nice!

@ Cerveteca Lisboa. Orangish color with a quickly diminishing white head. Aroma has acid notes, light vinegar and white wine. Flavor is acidic, slightly citrus notes and some winous hints. Vinegar final with a good duration.

On tap @ Kick. Slightly unclear golden body with practically no head, just a thin white film that disappears immediately. Classic funky Lambic aroma, horse blanket and fruity acid. Flavor is dry, acidic and fruity but there is also some kind of soft malt sweetness here. Itís a fine and relatively easy drinkable Lambic for the sour beer drinkers, still Iím convinced there is a good reason for blending Lambics. They tend to miss a lot of the complexity from a Geuze whatsoever. Itís sure nice to sample a few unblended once to know a little of what it is about, but the blended stuff is just more complex. Anyway this is one of the smoothest Lambics I have sampled.
