3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 jethrodium (281) - Berkeley, California, USA - MAY 21, 2012
375 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellowish amber with a small white head that settles to a ring and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is hay, light lemon, and a light earthiness. The initial taste has decent sweetness with hay, moderate tartness, and spritzy lemon, sort of lemonade-like. The finish has a bit of earthiness and a decent tartness, leaving some lingering lemon and hay. Light body. Medium-high carbonation. Not bad, but not terribly complex and a little bit more sweetness than I like in a gueuze.

Bottle to snifter. Looks good; light-orange with ample CO2 and head. Smells good too; tart and funky. Tastes pretty good too, but not as good as it smells. Average on the palate for a beer of this style. A decent geuze, but nothing special.

Bottle. Pour is hazy yellow with a massive white head, some lace, impressive retention. Aroma of wood, brett, funk, lemon, citrus, earth, apple. Taste is primarily brett: tart, dusty, lemon, wood. Palate is bit thin, tart, lively carbonation, sour finish. Good.

BB 08 11 2030 375 ml bottle from Ledgers. Nose is tartness squared with lots of green apple notes in the tartness. Slight hints of white sugar and a gouda cheese fungal note.Clear golden yellow with a big white head. Flavor is tart acidity with green apple skin flavor coming through strongly. A really nice but not lip puckering sour geuze.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ktwse (224) - SWEDEN - MAY 11, 2012
Pours cloudy yellow with massive white head. Aroma is typically lambic, grapes, wheat, citrus - very fresh! Taste opens quite sour before it is balanced up by a slight lingering sweetness. Body is light with decent, but not imposing, carbonation.

375 cl bottle, from local Vinmonopol. Cork came out with a small "bang!". Poured into a wine glass, the beer looks like a quite fizzy, light golden yellow beer, very clear, with lots of bubbles rising all the time and a large, almost creamy white head. The head seems to have no intention of going away anytime soon.
The aroma is sour, with a rather decent amount of barnyard funk and lemon. There’s also some notes of green apples.
The flavor is a lot like the aroma. Green apples, some lemon, some barnyard. Also, a tiny hint of hops. Mouthfeelwise it’s really dry and suitably fizzy. The sourness is quite modest. It’s there, and plays an important role, but it’s not overwhelming. Quite refreshing! There’s also a metallic note/flavor present here, but that could just be me and the aftermath of a wisdom tooth extraction I had some weeks ago, so I don’t count that as part of the flavor of this beer. The balance is almost perfect, I think.
Overall it’s very nice, and one of the best lambics I’ve tasted! Unfortunately I haven’t tasted a lot of lambics, so that doesn’t really say a lot, but still. I really enjoy this one. I agree with the description, that this is probably the white sparkling wine of the beer world.

10th September 2009 Cloudy orange beer. Dry palate. Sour earthy nose. Tart dry citric grapefruit and orange with an earthyness that grounds it. Not overwhelming lemon acid so drinkable.

Bottle shared at DLD ’12. Pours a cloudy golden-orange color, kind of dull, wtih a finger of white head. Funky, citrusy, acidic, sweet, dry, and refreshing. Lemon and white grapes, with some oak. My notes weren’t great for this but I liked it.

Pours a clear pale straw with a bubbly white head. Aroma has lots of funky yeast, hay, and the very lightest hint of lemon. Very tart in flavor with earthiness, funk and a bit of sour lemons. Pretty tasty, but not as complex as others.
