COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Min første lambic. Ligner litt på champagne i glasset grunnet all kullsyren.

Bottle shared at the BFD Christmas Party. Oddly skunky aroma with a tart bite to it. Tart with a honey malt sweetness. Not sure how this bottle was handled but as is its meh at best.

Bottle at De Groote Witte Arend, Antwerp. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy long-lasting white head. The aroma is super smooth sour, acid and wet horse blanket! The flavour is medium sour with smooth acidic citrus grapefruit palate. A well balanced beer that was nice and easy to drink. Many sours tend to have dominating features that are not so appealing to every drinker but this beer will go down with most people I feel.

Bottle at Grote Witte Arend. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma is funky, horse blanket, barnyard, tart fruits, apples. Flavour is moderate to heavy sour, a nice soft tart fruitiness that’s not too extreme. Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

Best by 25OCT2031 Pours light golden ale with a solid quilt of light white foam. Nose comes out with plenty of funk, hay, manure, horse hair, lemons, carbon dioxide (more a sensation than flavor), hints of pepper and lactic acid. Nice and tart with a degree of brett that is a little over powering for me with a chalky and bicarbonate addition. There is a bit of hay and soil with a lemon zest and acetic and lactic acids. I’m surprised how subdued the sour is in this one. Thin bodied with hi carb and dry finish - standard. This is not a great gueuze for me. Not tart enough and a little too much brett. I will likely buy a few more bottles at some point for aging, but only to see where it goes, I don’t get the feeling this beer is going to be more sour. Serving type: bottle 06-29-2012
