Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

375ml bottle at home. Pale orange/golden with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium body with heavy carbonation. Pretty sour with some sweet And bitter tones. Green apple, citrus, hay, wood and some spices. A decent gueuze.

75cl bottle Vintage 2002. Very musty yet light. Funky aroma but the taste is very easy going for an Oud Gueuze. This one is great for the beginners but has enough to please the more hardcore fans. Balanced, drinkable and it held up well. On a level with Lindemans Cuvee Rene.

Pours hazy orange amber with a Tiny fizzy head. Aroma of classic wild barnyard, horse blanket, stable, vitamin pills, citrus, dry wood, elderflower, sour goose berries and a weak note of leather. Taste is tart but not overly sour with fresh notes of unripe green apples, barnyard, stable, citrus, very dry champagne, some oak, raw elderflower and some grapefruit peel. Pretty refreshing and drinkable gueuze!

375ml bottle served in a flute glass. A: Pours a yellow to orange color. A little bit cloudy. Lots of carbonation coming from the bottom. Forms a big and very bubbled (alive) white head. Fizzy with a great retention but only few lacings formed and left in the glass S: Smell is quite grainy and fruity. Characteristic Lambic character. Notes of pale fruits like white grapes, apples and peaches. Vinegar. Sour with a metallic and slightly flowery hops in the end T: Strong notes of fruits and pale malts in upfront. White grapes, apples and peaches. Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of Lambic yeasts. In overall, a quite dry taste. Sour and vinegar but not overwhelming. Quite smooth, I would say. Lovely Gueuze M: Light and carbonated body. Malty, fruity and mainly metallic aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Great Gueuze. Lambic fans will really enjoy it as I did... [ BA Review @ 3/25/2014 ]

These beers are like if you had a hay-infused champagne that didn’t taste like the floor of a barn. Nice balance between tart and sweet while having a dry bit of sparkle on the tongue.

Bottle shared in Belgium with Bruce and Colin. Pours faint hazy gold, lightly effervescent, with a large, frothy white head. Nice tangy grass aroma with light sweat, sour wheat. Light sweet flavor with assertive grassy bitterness, lemon rind, more sour wheat and sweat, soft earth. Light to medium bodied with average to lively carbonation and massaging mouthfeel. Restrained sourness in the finish, hints of pine, tight grassy bitterness. Clean and refreshing. Solid.

Final moderadamente seco. Muy rica.
