Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

2003 bottle. Pours a pale, clear straw with a big pillowy head. Lasting cover with sticky lacing. The aroma is heavy horseblanket, light cheese, loads of lactic acid, lemons and cobwebs. The flavor is quite sour, lots of lactic acid, a touch of acetic, fairly dry, but some sweetness has survived. The mouthfeel is light and sparkling with a very dry and tannic finish.

Pours a light amber color with thick white head. The aroma is of barn-like aromas, vinegar, and apple. Flavor is very much the same with a tart, dry finish. For my first gueuze this one is very good.

Good through 26.01.2025. Poured an amber color with a nice initial head. Significant pop of the cork upon opening. Carbonation was significant, lacing minimal. The aroma was of funky barn and hay. The flavor was similar, certainly tart, with the cheesy aspects much underplayed. Not as complex as the other gueuze examples out there. Mouthfeel was highly carbonated and somewhat light relative to what it could have been.

Bottled 2003 - Beautiful slight hazy orange dark golden body with a huge creamy white head leaving thick lacing; Quite big nose very acid, you can actually fell the lactic acid in your nose in the warmest way imaginable, a little cowshed, quite a lot of big malty warm barrel aromas, with time in the glass the acid mellows and the aroma becomes very balanced and very well composed; Very soft textured body with a soft carbonation, the lactic acid aint as distinctive as in the nose and there is a bit of malonic acid as well, quite balanced and pleasant; Long warm finish with lots of barrel aromas, supported by fresh, ripe and rotten apple. This beer is much better then the first batch from the "new" Oude Beersel, but not nearly as good as the bottles from the "old" Oude Beersel. Damn, I love Geuze! Bottled 2006 (first release from the "new" Oude Beersel (obviously released before it was ready)) 6-4-5-3-12 = 3.0 – Very clear golden body, with white head; Strange nose that is only a bit sour, but otherwise not very Gueuze like, well it smells like it is not ready at all: some apple, some hay but just as much fresh malt; A bit acidy harsh actually a bit alcoholic body; Lacks length in finish of warm malt, harsh. Not yet ready, a least I hope it ain’t.

Pours a rosey gold with an gigantic pour white head. Aroma is tart fruit, yeast funk, sweet vinegar, and barn. Flavor is tart lemons, sweet lettuce, cheese, acid, strawberries, and drying pepper. Mouthfeel is very dry and carbonated...this is not as good as the girardin, but it is damn good.

Bottle. Hazy yellow, tons of carbonation. Huge white head. Sour, musty hay nose. Flavor is tart, gets you that little buzz in the very back of your jawbone. Slightly citrusy and acidic. Dry, dry finish. Really liked this one.

Me drinking a Gueuze. I like these now after hating the first few. Sour and salivary gland activating. Very musty and sour with the flavor of straw and grapefruit.Sounds strange but tastes good.
