COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Typical oude gueuze aroma, stanky, horse blanket, some sweetness, lemon. Semi opaque gold with rocky two finger head. Lightly sour, more on the tart side with some sweetness. Very refreshing, but lacking in depth and complexity.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/13/2032. Pours moderately cloudy golden straw color with a 2-3 finger fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big sour apple, pear, lemon, grape, clove, pepper, oak, hay, grass, leather, funk, white vinegar, and earthy yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of estery/funky yeast notes with barrel character. Taste of tart apple, lemon, pear, grape, clove, pepper, oak, hay, grass, leather, light vinegar, and earthy yeast spiciness. Moderate fruity/spicy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, hay, oak, grass, leather, light vinegar, and earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/funky ester flavors with moderate barrel character; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very crisp, dry, moderately prickly, and slightly acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Gueuze. All around nice complexity and balance of flavors; and very smooth to sip on even with high carbonation. A very enjoyable offering.

Aroma is strong tartness/sourness, fruit (possibly cherries) and a hint of wheat. The flavor is sharp tartness, citrus, grainy texture and a mix of mild sweetness and lingering sour notes.

375ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Huge white head which becomes very fluffy. Hazy, dark yellow body. Sharp aroma dominated by apples and iron. Long lasting dry finish. To me this feels more like a wine than a beer.

375ml bottle. pours very hazy/cloudy yellow. well... this is my first ever geuze. very different and to be honest, it’s really not a style to my taste.Agree with the comparisons to champagne or sparkling wine. aroma is of grapes, flowers and a little yeast. taste... well it’s extremely dry. very much like a brut champagne. very very carbonated, fruity and not at all like beer. marks well being neutral on the fact that this isn’t for me.

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium straw, with a white head. Funky, yeasty aroma, citrus, Brett, straw, barnyard, apples. Bone dry, medium bodied, low bitterness, lively CO2. Sour, funky taste, quite complex, citrus peel, hay, earth, oxidized cider apples. Quite lean and elegant, and rather "clean" for the style. (2013-05-02)

This is not your average beer, it’s a geuze... A: a nice gold, slightly hazy due to the finest of sediment being set floating by the pouring; pour gently, or you’ll end up with more head than liquid in your glass, and it dissipates kinda slowly S: smells of moist cellars, autumn forest soil, moldy, yeasty, bit tart, only slightly acidic, like the oiliness of lemon zest, no alcohol "bite" T: tart, lots of sours and bitters, tho not overly "hoppy", yeasty, fairly lightbodied M: light, but present nonetheless, tickles the tongue D: very drinkable, goes well with cheeses, especially the stronger ones A real geuze - an acquired taste perhaps, can take getting used to, but once you’re there, this is one to try for sure.

Bottle at Tampa Palms WOB (R.I.P.). Pours a cloudy golden orange color with an initial foamy head that quickly fades to a thin outer ring. Very funky aroma even for a geuze. Barnyard funk dominates with subtle tart lemon. Flavor is nice with good tartness in the finish. Dry mouthfeel.
