COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Yellow clear liquid, kinda small white head. Aroma reminds me of apple cider, sour apple maybe some lemon, slightly yeasty. Very dry taste, sour apples again. High carbonation. I’ve tried sour ales before but this was the first gueuze ever for me. Can’t say that i’m a big fan of sour beer but this was decent, i enjoyed it.

[2015-12-29] Appelsiininkeltainen, samea, vaalea vaahtohuntu. Tuoksu on hapan ja valkoviinimäinen. Maussa korostuu sitruksinen kirpeys ja gueuzelle ominainen happamuus. Keskiasteinen hiilihappoisuus.

37cl bottle. Clear pale orange pour with a tall white head and visible strands of carbonation. Smells like baking soda, lemon zest, barnyard funk, rotten leaves and mould. The taste follows the same notes, with some added grapes, white wine and gooseberries. Dry, moderately sour and lightly bitter, with a medium body, high carbonation and a sour refreshing aftertaste.

375ml bottle. Pours hazy orange golden with a beautiful creamy white head. Aroma is lactic acidity, yeast, light lemony aroma, funky notes, light mineral hint. Taste is similar, excellent balancement of the sour component, rich funkyness, very easy to drink. Medium body, lively carbonation. Excellent.

I loved the colour of this. I knew I’d like it as soon as I poured and smelled. Overwhelming citrus on the nose and certainly on the taste buds. It’s very sour and given I love sour drinks it’s right on the money for me. I’ll be buying a lot more of this.

Bottle sample tasted at BBF Lab Madrid 2016 on the 02/07/2016. Pours a hazy orange colour with a quickly dissipating bubbly head. Aroma of grapes, flowers, citrus and hay. Taste is of grass, caramel and tart. Oily mouthfeel, very low carbonation. Next one please!

07/06/2016 - 37,5cl bottle @ Brik Brak, Brussels. Hazy yellow with fading white head. Nose is hay, sour, some apple. Taste is sour, some wood, green aplle, very easily drinking. Nice quick refresher but lacks complexity.

Very clear golden color with a big spritzy, but quickly dissipating head. Aroma of white wine, with a strong bret presence. Taste sour but not overpowering. Complex yeast flavours. I’m a big fan of oud bruin, so this was a little one dimensional to me. Very good though.
