djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Pours out red with pink head. Smells of cherries. Taste is sour cherry with some funk. Very tart and dry finish. Nice spritzy fruity beer. dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 10, 2008 C&C 275 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours a slightly hazy cranberry red with a minimal head. Aroma is a musty and cheesy funk with sour cherries. Nice sour cherry taste with an earthy funkiness to it. Medium bodied with vigorous carbonation. smith4498 (825), Miami, Florida, USA Aug 7, 2008 Pours deep ruby red with pink head. Aromas of sour funk and sweet cherries. Flavor is sour with tart cherries and lambic funkiness. Medium body with sprizy carbonation and a crisp, dry finish. Very nice. durhambeer (1187), Durham, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle; bright dark pink pour with lively light pink head. Woody, sour, lambic nose; cherry is definitely secondary to the lovely sour lemony funky notes, but it’s there. Great beer. MrChopin (621), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 5, 2008 Updated: Aug 19, 2008Pours transparent ruby with moderate carbonation and the last remains of a strawberry milkshake for a head. How could you say no to that? Tart and juicy, the nose has sour cherries, leather, sweat, dust, and hay. The taste is starts off juicy sweet but proceeds to develop a wonderful sour character, achieving balance with cherry, lemon, vinegar, and dust. Carbonated and full of life, this is great stuff, if perhaps a little sweet. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Aug 4, 2008 375mL bottle, best by date of 03.12.2023, courtesy of a trade from a while ago. Thanks! Pours a hazy, orange-tinged red raspberry color; light pink head with solid, mixed-bubbled lacing. Nice amounts of funk, cheese, and ripe red fruits (cherries, red raspberries; pulpy and pitty) in the aroma; dry, crisp, and refreshing; medium levels of acidity. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: good periphery of red fruits, toasty wood, raspberries, and tannins (light), though the core itself is a bit muted; nothing complex or showing much depth at the core; a very clean, tasty, immediate kriek. The finish is rather quick, with the tart red fruitiness lingering for a moment, then evening out to predominantly toasted grains / cereal. plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours red with a pink fluffy head. Aroma is very tart and citric with sour sherries in the background. Very dry flavour with a tart cherry finish. Very acid like but its not uncomfortable. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2008 Oude Beersel Kriek: pours red with a pink head, aroma is of funky cherries, very tart, extremely dry, and highly carbed, flavor of cherries and a funky lacto yeast thing, finish is actually rather salty tasting but is quite pleasant
