reakt (938), Greater London, England Apr 19, 2007 Updated: Sep 1, 2007bottle from uto. Forced to rate, so I’m keeping it short. It’s sub-par in comparison to the 3 Fonteinen and De Cam. Deep burgundy in colour with pink head. Nose is spot on - full aroma of tart cherries and light alcohol. The taste is the let down - a nice pucker start quickly fizzles to flat, old cherries and barnyard taste. There is an odd chemical character in there as well. Finish is almost non-existent and watered down. Decent medium body w/ prickly mouthfeel. I’m shocked at the high rates here. Maybe we have a bad bottle. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Apr 17, 2007 Rosy red color. Aroma correctly foretells powerful wild cherries. The musty, acidic characteristics take a backseat to the fruit. But they are backseat drivers, and in the end this kriek turns sharp and arrives at very dry. I enjoyed the ride a hell of a lot. DeweyDell (155), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2007 Bottle... Dark red in color with a bubbly pink head, very pretty-looking. Smells very sour, lots of cherries, a little bit of hay/barn smell. Whoa. Tastes incredibly sour... bubbly on the tongue. In one word, intense. Refreshing though... I agree with the statement that this would be a good summer beer. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2007 12oz or so bottle. Pours a rosy, bloody pink with an airy light pink head and some yeast floaties in there. Aroma is tart, sour cherries, yeast, a little bit of barnyard but not overpowering, thank God. A nice, balanced aroma. Flavor is sharp, sour cherries, strong but not overly so. Carbonated and acidic in the mouth. I’m starting to dig this style and compared to others I’ve had this one seems to get everything right. An excellent kriek. SilkTork (4156), Rochester, Kent, England Apr 6, 2007 ChrisFest Too sharp for me. Very dry. Good cherry flavour, but dry, dry, dry. The sharpness is just too intense for my palate. maeib (4683), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Apr 2, 2007 Bottled at Chris O Fest March 2007. A darkish red coloured beer with a pinky toned head. The aroma is tart and acidic with lots of cherry fruits. The taste is more of the same. Good acidity and fruit levels. Feels too fizzy in the mouth, but the flavours are great. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Apr 1, 2007 After the disaster from De troch, I needed a change of pace, so I cracked open this gem that was sitting in my cellar for a few years. To my delight, the initial pour yielded a beautiful pronounced pink head and produced an aroma that filled the room that included sugar, cherries, bitter seeds, as well as some nice lemony sour elements and the familiar farmhouse aromas associated with a well made kriek. Tastes of tarte cherries, tangy residual sugar, lots of sour mouth puckering tartness, hints of wild meadow wheat. Dry as can be on the mouthfeel with a long lasting delicate touch of cherries on the finish that seemed to linger forever. This was that rare bottle that had been aged to its absolute peak and is a true diamond in the rough! mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Mar 29, 2007 bottle: pours a dark merky cherry colour with a lively pink head beautiful. aroma of sour sour cherries and some musty earth scent. flavour is of sour cherries and very dry finishes with just a small touch of sweetness. excellent
