Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 15, 2009 Pours a sort of pinkish amber color with a fizzy two finger head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma is sour cherry in a musty basement. Tangy yeast with some faintly oaky character. The flavor hits immediately with a slightly sweet cherry but is almost just as quickly swallowed in a wave of biting sour. Some slightly mineraly character... there is a bite on the tongue that is more than the sour... almost like putting icy hot on your tongue. Some wood and funk, but the cherry shines through a lot more than I originally expected. If you are looking for sour and funky, this is a solid choice. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jul 15, 2009 Khory’s again....
Poured out a large, thick pink cap that lasts forever, leaves average spotty and ropy lacing on a brew that looks like a dark mahogany yet seems on the wimpy side for colour. The aroma is very good with dark cherry that is not overly powerful, some funk which is nice, wood, leather that is not leather, more funk. I really like the funk in this. The taste, which is pretty much a bunch of mild yet tasty dark cherries really weakens as I go along here almost to the point of boredom. Woody with a bit of tart. This beer came out really impressive with it’s funk quality but that is all gone now and was gone half the way through. Pretty plain although very drinkable - but what Belgium Lambec isn’t? Get Lindeman’s instead. deyholla (507), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jul 10, 2009 Bottle at ABC beer tasting. Pours a clear red with a bit of orange tint to it and an off-white head. Aroma reminded me of wine, quite tart with cherry notes. Begins a bit sweet and quickly builds in to a tartness to the finish with a cherry flavor throughout. BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 3, 2009 Bottle Pours out a marroon topped with a small kind of pink head. Aroma of super sweet cherries and raspberry. Tast was nice lots of fresh cherries and raspberries some wood. Also picked up so pitfruit. Some light sourness on the end. Not bad sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 2, 2009 37.5cl bottle @ Beersel caslte.
pours dark red, thin rose head.
aroma of cherry, wood, light hints of almonds.
Taste, cherry; morello, somwe sweetness with some hints of acidic fruits.
Ligth wood / almonds palate. Madsnp (610), Odense C, Denmark Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Hazy deep red with a nice pink head. Aromas of almonds, marzipan, wood and sweet cherries. The flavour is sour and dry with notes of red currant, funk, spice and wood. Really tasty and refreshing. Anker (305), Hillerød, Denmark Jun 23, 2009 Bottle.
Hazy red colour with a foamy pink long lasting head and nice lacing’s.
It has a intense dry/sweet cherry aroma, with grape and woody notes.
Flavour is dry and very bitter grape, lagging the cherries which only has weak notes in the far back.
All in all its a little to tart.
