Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 3, 2006 Red body with a ruby head. Sweet and sour aroma and taste, mouth puckering. Cherries and raspberries dominate, some musky earth tones as well. Very nice overall. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2006 Thanks to Matta for this one, another winner. The pour was hazy magenta with a 2-finger light pink head. Aroma of tart cherries, funky yeast, peaty woodsy malt. The flavor was tart, heavily cherry-laden, with some peaty oaky malt notes coupled with some funky yeast notes. Stays tart, but with a good amount of sweetness; at least enough to offset the tartness. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2006 On tap at the Publick House in Boston - Pours ruby red with an ample head. There’s a very nice aroma of slightly sour cherries. The flavor is at once sweet and sour. There’s enough sugariness that you won’t pucker, but enough sour fruit flavors that you’re not overwhelmed with sweetness. There’s also some mild spice present. It’s good, it’s refreshing and interesting, and I really think it has a flavor that many would enjoy greatly, not just the major beer aficionados. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 5, 2006 On tap at Town Hall. This was rather flavorless. I will revisit this but as for now, I am letdown as I now really like
Lambics. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2006 Sample at Indy tasting Dick’s 96th - Aroma of vinegar, locker room funk (in a good way) and cherry. Pours bright red with medium head and decent lacing. Flavor is much more sour than aroma with the vinegar and cherry coming through. Palate is acidic and tart. Very nice and I need more. thebeertourist (2751), Oslo, Norway Jul 29, 2006 37.5 cl bottle, best before 06.10.2024. Deep red purple colour with a healthy pink head. Potent cherry aroma matched with citrussy lambik aromas.Cherry citrus flavours, very dry throughout. Some wood towards the finish. Sparkling. Refreshing. henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Jul 27, 2006 Red body with orange shine, huge pink head; Pleasant but quite small nose, nice mix of cowshit and cherry, it has something metallic to it as well, lacks depth and is quite simple; Lots of fill in body, soft to oily texture, perfect amount of soft carbonation; When swallowed the acidy freshness arrives in a balanced manner, again to little aroma a little unripe cherry and some pit is all there is – Best before 06.10.2024 StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 26, 2006 375-ml. bottle (best by 3-12-2020). Beautiful, hazy, scarlet and ruby in color with a foamy peach head that encapsulates the body and retains throughout the journey. Aroma is truly extraordinary. Salty sour cherries, adrenaline charged tart red raspberries, turning pomme bits, smashed pinot grapes, hard earned sweat and grenadine clashing with rye and boysenberry. Flavor’s first impressions lingers as salty and sulfurous. Holding the substance in the mouth for a prolonged period enervates the more glorious characteristics (tart cherry sauce, phosphate, vinaigrette, freshly halved ruby red grapefruit, etc.) It’s the outtake that disquiets slightly. Lime soaked kiwi is overcome by tart cherries, buoyantly abounded by freesia, concentrated red raspberry kernels and guava. Tingling carbonation is well in line with the bigger picture, and the substance begs for ample re-hydration following each sip, nearly creating a hole in a barren mouth geyser. Souring seascapes reappear in the finish with sparkling mineral water ideals and tart cherry cobbler to instigate a sugary and bakery relegated necessity. In the end, it’s a dry, cheeky aeration with a leavened flavor in line with strawberry shortbread.
