Poured with a large light pink head. The body was a very dark red. The aroma was sour vinegar and hay. Also, small amounts of cheese and cherries. The taste was slightly cheesy at first. Then cherries, hay and tart apple vinegar. I am beginning to appreciate these sour beers more and more. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 3, 2004 Medium hazy red color, light pinkish head that lasts wonderfully. Aroma has some nice barnyard funk mixed in with sour cherry. Bracing sour cherry flavor, mixed in with a woody note and more barnyard and horseblanket flavors. This is a serious beer. If I can find some more, I will horde them for the long haul. Why must good brewers die? As a side note, I had previously sampled off of a bottle I gave to my wife, and it seemed much sweeter. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2004 375CL bottle BBD 05.04.2022, SB23 on cork, how old is this?? Pours cherry red that can look deceptively amber or brownish hued...slight pinkish hue to the white head, good bubbles, no lace. Cheesy, leathery cherries...nice horsebarn character, complex nose. Light and to the point: sour, tart cherries. The first impression is that lingering acid mingled w/ cherry pit sourness, it just fills my palate...The fruit is not so dominant as it might have been in a fresh bottle, but its sour cherry pits are in there with those barnyard flavors. I like "joet"s basement flavors comment...a bit gueuze-like, sour and acidic, but not as hardcore as some. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA

Beautiful red in color. Very creamy. Lots of head with lacing. Very sour and dry. Chalk in the finish. joet (1702), Fulton, California, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 8, 2004 This beer is excellent. Pours a blood red color with a medium white head. Very lively carbonation. Aroma is cherry tart, sweet and sour with some citrus. Flavor is very complex. Cherry, sour, orange, barnyard, with some other flavor I’m having trouble pinning down. Body is spritzy and dry with a medium to long finish. Wow, this beer is seriously great. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2004 Wow - two bottles hat appeared to have been produced within fairly close dates (although that was hard to determine) but with vastly different appearance and flavor. One was cloudy, one clear. Was was more tart and asertive and the other .. well, less so.
