jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Apr 3, 2009 Saved for a special occasion - just booked my honeymoon. Perfect uncorking - the cork wanted to come out. Great looking ruby body with light amber highlights and a very thin and fast dying pink head. The aroma is heavenly; Perfect sour cherries, definitely mouth watering. Sweet aroma, some earthiness, a little malt comes through, but the ripe and sour cherries is amazing. Medium-bodied; Effervescent feel with the sour cherries, malt and a good amount of sweetness lingering behind. Aftertaste shows some complexity - yeast, grassiness, bitterness and yes the sugar and sourness is still here. Overall, a great lambic, definitely one to sample! Not my favourite lambic, but definitely worth trying again! I sampled this 37.5 cL bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 17-November-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 02-April-2009. Sampling Notes:
Served chilled in pilsner glass.
Deep murky purple-ish maroon body with tightly packed pink-tinged cream atop.
Plenty of complex funk straightup on the nose; hard cheese and natural yoghurt, hay, woody spice, with a sour cherry element hinting almond-like undertones.
Lively carbonation, quite smooth and creamy, light bodied, dry with an excellent tart acidity that is in great balance with the rest of the body.
Unbelievably complex body; sour cherries seem an obvious description but that has complexities within itself. Marzipan, cinamon spice, malt vinegar, natural yoghurt, blue cheese, vinous dark berries. Excellent full fruit flavour, finishes with a lovely quenching acidity that lingers and entices.
This is a bloody good fruit beer, possibly the best i’ve ever tried! laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 1, 2009 really not my cup of tea. For what it is I think it’s quite good, but overall I just don’t like it. vinegary with extremely sour cherry flavors. nice sweet cherry aftertaste. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2009 Dark pink with a fluffy pink head. It smells good, sour, cherries, and a little bit of manure! The taste was not too heavy on the cherry, some sourness, a little bit of acidity this was cool. I’ll be interested to try their framboise and gueuze. Mmm gueuze.

Dry. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 7, 2009 Bottle... Poured ruby with a pink head. Aroma of grenadine and wild yeast. Not as dry and tart as I would have thought. Smooth palate with a dominant black cherry and grenadine flavor. The alcohol played like medicine that was followed by a floral and tangy finish. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Jan 17, 2009 375 ml bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a deep red color with a one finger thick pink head. Very little lacing. Aroma is tart cherry with a hint of vinegar. Flavor is a very tart and bitter cherry. Medium body. A decent beer, but not my cup of tea. wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Jan 12, 2009 Bottle, Red Zebra, Derby. Poured a vivid ruby red with a slight haze and a throbbing pinky head....Ooer missus. Cherry tree in a damp barnyard aroma. Perfectly sour flavour that isn’t smothered in cherry. Dry woody finish. All the elements here equal a fine representation of the style. Qualitee all round.
