Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jan 10, 2009 Pretty red pour with a pink short lasting head. Taste is tart, sharp and sour with cherries predominate. Aroma is of cherries as well. Tingly on the tongue with a crisp finish. Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Jan 4, 2009 Updated: Feb 2, 2009Pours hazy, berry red with a rather substantial salmon coloured head, which is a rarity for the style! Nose displays sour cherries with a lot of earthy woody notes. There seems to also be some degree of fruit spice aswell, a lot more going than most other krieks. Palate is light and heavily carbonated with more unripe red fruits and earthy must. Finishes with tart acidity and an afterthought of oak. Shows greater complexity than any other example of the style I’ve ever had! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2008 Wow! Yet another delicious lambic. Near perfect in every way. Aroma was funky and chessy with dirty barnyard. Pour perfect. Deep dark bubbly red with a 2 finger pink head. I was worried this was going to be a sweet fruity LIndemans type lambic. After first sip I was happy to be dead wrong. Delicious and sour. Tasted exactly like a sour version of cherry Pop Tarts with the sour overpowering the cherry in a good way. Heavy carbonation bites the mouth and cheeks. I could drink this everyday. Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 10, 2008 Deep ruby red with giant bright head. Full-bodied sour, musty, dusty, fruity goodness. One notch below Cantillon, but may approach that level after a couple of years in the cellar. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Dec 3, 2008 From a C&C bottle, this poured a rich cheery red with a light pink head and lacing rings that look like glue. Nose is of sour cherry, and the mouthfeel is medium and shows a little carbonation. Flavor is bittersweet and strongly of cherry, while the finish is a classic lambic sourness. An excellent lambic. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Hazy deep glowing red with a pinkish white ring of head. The aroma is Acidic with notes of aged cheese rind, dried old oak, citric character, and only mild tart cherry skin in the background. Crisp acidity to the body. Acetic, moldy oak, some cobweb character, aged cheese, cherry skin, vinegar, and underlying horse blanket earthiness. Not the most complex example, but the funk is there. Solid. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Nov 20, 2008 Always happy to see a new lambic arrive in town. This one pours a rusty red color with a slightly pink head. Some sediment. You pink up a good bit of sourness in the aroma along with a hint of cherry and other berries. The flavor is not as sour as I expected but definitely not artificially sweet. The cherries are there and a bit mellow. The carbonation is soft and the flavor doesn’t last too long on the tongue. A decent mellow lambic. Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 17, 2008 Corked Bottle from Crown #19.
Poured a clear red color with an average frothy reddish head that mostly lasted with good lacing.
Moderate cherry yeasty aroma.
Medium body with a fizzy texture.
Medium sweet & sour flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
This beer met my expectations.
