Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Oud Beersel Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Oud Beersel Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

On tap at Craft & Draft. Clear orange pour with a white head. Acrid and funky smell. Sour and refreshing, more fresh than funky. Excellent beer, among the best lambics I have tried.

Tap at La Fleur, Brussels, 28th January 16. Pours amber, no head, aroma is funk, barnyard, cellar, damp wood. Taste is musty, funk, apple, tart. No carbonation, very nice and easy to drink.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Hazy light orange body and a small rocky head. Aroma of basement, vinegar, abricot, malt. The taste has a medium sourness, but still well balanced. Nice refreshing.

Tap. Pours light hazy golden with tiny white foam. Aroma has some sulfits at first. Funky, dusty, grapes, brett, wheat, tart, barnyard, green apples, moste apples. Taste is more apply, dusty and packed with barnyard. Very low to no carbonation. Tart wheat, grapes, acidic. Dry finish, light oily.

Draught @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki (as oude vieux lambiek). Pours dark orange with a small head. Aroma of tart berries, vinous notes, sourness, earthy notes and funky yeastiness. Taste is sour, slightly tartish and earthy with some berries and earthy notes. Finish is slightly sour and tart with some berries and earthy notes. Okay, not very aggressive but balanced gueuze.

(Draught at Delirium Café, Brussels, 16 Oct 2015) Golden yellow colour with brief, foamy head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of stable, sweaty horse, grapes, apricots and wood. Fruity, tart taste with stable, barnyard, leather, over-ripe pears, grapes, citrus, wood, some vinegar and a dry and tart finish. Medium body, dry. A bit unrefined and harsh, but tasty. Quite nice.

Rating #1496 - 13.03.2015 - On tap @revolutionyeg - #SourNFunk2015 - Pours a clear golden with a few bubbles at the top, not much carbonation to speak of. Aroma is Brett, floral, wildflowers. Palate is quite tart, but refreshingly so, light-medium body, mouthfeel is like fruit juice. A depth of sweet and sour flavours intermingling. Very nice.

On tap @ What’s Brewing 15, as Oud Beersel Lambiek. Pours hazy golden, with no head save a few bubbles. Aroma is sweet bretty wooden notes, cork and nuts, as well as some musty floral and farmhouse notes and hints of manure. Full body, with no carbonation. Flavour is tart bretty wood, floral notes and cork, as well as musty farmhouse cellar.
