COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Oud Beersel Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Oud Beersel Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Draft at Grote Dorst in Eizeringen. Foamless as expected, clear light golden blonde colour, obviously no fizz. Very ’animalistic’ aroma, almost ’sexual’ in a way, sweaty, very estery too, fermenting apples, horse menure, lemon peel, sherry, wet hay - quite a challenge, but fascinating if you like lambics. Wry grape peel, overripe apples and sour berries, very estery, sour with sharp lemon zest accent, dry and tart finish, sour cream, very dry woodiness. Complex and interesting, a bit of a challenge, as old lambics often are.

Tap @ Oedipus Brewing’s Carnivale Brettanomyces 2015’s pre-party, small sample. Orange/amber color, only slightly hazy. No head. Aroma from the glass: sour, ehm, diarrhea. Retronasal: soft sour, light sweetness even, some brett, some wood, almonds. Flavor is moderate sour with a light bitterness. Light bodied. Not too long finish, somewhat bitter and woody.

On tap at Watering Hole for the 3rd Anniversary. Golden orange color with a light cloudiness present and no head basically. Aromas of wild berries, green apple and oak. Taste is quite similar. Soft carbonation with a medium body that drinks easy. Very refreshing with a nice tartness on the palate. The green apple and berries really stand out. A little vanilla present as it warms up.
