The gueuze pours lightly hazy amber/orange with a modest white head. The aroma has lemon/grapefruit citrus sourness, funky & buggy wild yeast, some lactic sourness, bit of sweetness (by gueze standards), oak and dry white wine. Medium / light body that’s very crisp and grainy with subdued sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with lemony citrus and pepper up front along with all of the aroma traits. It is very sharp and piercing with malt barely detectable. The finish is husky and grainy with lemon and pepper. Great beer.

A 75 cl bottle bought from the fab store De Dranken Geers near Gent. A fine hazy orange pour with a neat white head on top. A nose that are sweet with a mild acidic sourness on top. Sour apples, green grapes, and wet toast bread fills the nose is a fine and balanced way. The taste is nice and not as sour as many other great gueuzes. Its smooth with a taste of fresh grapes and something that reminds me of butterscotch. A nice blend between sour and sweet notes. It has a sparkling mouthfeel and a pretty high carbonation level, A finish that could be a little more agressive and dominating. A great beer - can be shared but nice enough to keep all to yourself.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy golden orange appearance with a big orangish white head. Huge funky, musty, somewhat acidic, lemon/citrusy sour, mild hay, barnyard aroma. Pretty sour, tangy lemon/orange citrusy, fairly funky, slight basement, musty, moderately funky flavor. Pretty tasty gueuze that’s quite easy drinking though maybe not quite as complex as some of its siblings.

Golden, minimal head, fades quick. Musty/dusty, earthy, musky, lemony. Flavor much the same, lemon tartness, phenols, dry cardboard/cork through the finish. Silky/oily mouthfeel. Sub-par from the first bottle I had.

750ml bottle courtesy of Styles. Pours hazy orange with a fluffy white head that fades quickly. Aroma is barnyard funk with a little lemon in the background. Body is light & crisp. Flavor is sharply sour, with notes of citrus in a nice clean finish. Really enjoyed this

500 mL bottle from 7th Sun Brewing tap room. Pours a hazy yellow with a frothy white head that quickly becomes tame. Nose is prickly lemon, akin to a berliner, with some vinegar, funk, hint of barnyard, and some peppery yeast. Flavor is similar- lemon, vinegar, funk, and prickly citrus followed by more funk. Nice gueuze overall. Light to medium in body with a funky citrusy finish.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2011 Very sour and lemon intro with tart punch. Hazy light orange color with frothy white head. Interesting yeast close but the sourness lingers

My rating #2300! Apple juice brown with fuzzy white froth that rouses with a swirl. Nose is sourdough bread, citrus pith, foot funk, white pepper, leather and marjoram. Sharp, tart and juicy with a sparkle. Taste is lime, leather and dried apricot. Intense and complex, just pushing my boundaries for sour and funk.

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Translucent amber with a moderate foamy blond head. Aroma is mouthwatering! Sour fruit, leather, sweat, lemon, damp earth, light cat urine and funky yeast make up the bulk of the aroma. Taste is a sledgehammer blow of sour fruit, lemon juice and funky yeast followed by repeated whacks of sweat, moist leather, damp earth and grains. Body is light, effervescent, acidic and dry with an extreme lingering sourness. Finishes with more sour fruit notes, big, funky yeast, lemon juice, sweat, light salt notes, leather, earthiness and grains. Damn tasty!

(Bottle) Pours light hazy golden with an off-white head. The aroma holds more lacto than brett – notes of green apples, cider, grapefruits, lemon, juniper, tart white wine, fresh broken wood, wet leather and light sour milk alongside undertones of light barnyard/horse blanket and mould. The nose is really yummy but not super complex. Some wood as well. A touch of flowers, dry cracker-like malt, mint and sulfur. The flavor is dry and medium to heavily acidic. Tones of citrus, super dry apple cider, brett, cracker like malt and light wood. Maybe a bit milky. The mouthfeel is tart a fairly tight with a light to medium carbonation. Finishes with aggressive citrus and mild wheat alongside puke-like sensation. Light to medium bodied.
