Corked bottle. Pours a brilliantly clear pale gold with a thin white head and a steady stream of fine bubbles. Aroma is mild barnyard funk, light citrus, a mellow maltiness, a woodsy bitterness. Flavor is moderately sour and barnyard funky, lemon, lemongrass, mild woodiness, restrained fruitiness, low sweetness. Finishes dry. Incredibly refreshing. Light mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Could easily chug it; have to remind myself to sip it slowly to get all the complexity. One of my favorite gueuzes/sours.

Poured from ’11/’12 bottle to glass. Slightly hazy golden hue with thick fizzy white head thT lingered nicely. Aroma is lactic, straw, barnyard, peppercorn. Mouthfeel is great with a light body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry with a tart following and slight peppercorn finish. Overall, this is a very nice brew.

2011-12, 375 ml bottle. Clear gold with little head. Nose of minerals, fruity, funky. Tastes of barnyard funk, some fruitiness, minerally. Effervescent on the tongue, a bit oily, but drying quickly. One of my favorite gueuzes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(375ml 2013-2014 bottle from Systembolaget) Cork burst out the moment I untwisted the cap and came millimeters from being a gusher. Pours lovely medium burnt orange with an inch of pillowy dense white foam that refuses to budge, and very active carb! Aroma of lots of yeasts, crabapple, lemon, touch of something between orange peel/apricot/white wine, moderate woody notes, a little malt sweetness and a bit of acidity. Lovely tart flavours up front of sour apple, stone fruit, orange rind, lemons, moderately acidic. Drying a bit in the middle, more orange rind, a little floral, touch of wood building, Bretty barnyard is light but present, tart fruit remains at the core. Finish dry, some wheat malt grain, wood, a touch bitter with lingering light citrusy acidity on the roof of the mouth. Medium bodied with ample soft effervescent carb that makes it creamy. This is maybe not the most complex of gueuzes, just reasonably so, but its bright fruit character and nice balance of tart/sour, wood and malt make it extremely drinkable. Excellent stuff.

Fles 6.4%. Licht aroma, kleur oranje/geel met een flinke schuimkraag die snel inzakt. Wat dun in de mond, in eerste instantie zure smaken die overgaat in droge bittere tonen.
