3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6948) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - DEC 23, 2012
fairly pleasant nose of typical smells of brown malt (chocolate, toast, light coffee) with a nicely rustic dusting of cocoa powder. very expressive nose with a lot of life, as opposed to the overly-yeasty and muddled saison. medium body, lightly grainy approach with some carbonation fizz before a more soft-textured back end and finish. expressive oat and beefy wheat flavors are in play with a hot cocoa and light char dark malt quality. seems fresh. not overly clean, but not dirty or off-smelling or tasting at all. shows promise that they can do a world classic style in such a way.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Steve_0 (1261) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 4, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Pour is hazy brown/amber with a small khaki head. Roasty, earthy hops, grass, light vanilla, toffee, somewhat dirty aroma. Taste is roasty, toffee, brown sugar, light grassy/earthy hops, and espresso with a light bitter finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not a bad brown, however, nothing to get excited about. Definitely their best offering, currently.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 onceblind (2535) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Murky funky lookin chocolate/gold, with a thin white head. The nose has some milk-chocolate and some lightly herbal hoppy bitter tones. The hops come through stronger on the flavor though, getting up front with some leafy and herbal bitterness and flavors. But the middle through the finish is full of chocolatiness and a little toffee. Pretty nice.
