Granite Chief is the second highest mountain summit in Placer County, at 9019 feet. This mountain can be enjoyed any time of the year, just like this stout. The same sun that melts the snowpack on Granite Chief also fuels our solar powered brewery. The snowpack feeds the rivers and streams and eventually becomes this beer. What we ride this winter, we will drink this summer! Whether riding, skiing, or climbing it, the Granite Chief commands respect, just like this stout. A hop-forward West Coast stout with a blend of roasted malts and chocolate notes complete the full-bodied chief. Hail to the Chief!

Off the tap at the brewery. Pours a finger of tan head on a black body. The aroma is licorice and burnt wood. The taste is quite bitter for a stout (72 IBU), roasted malt and milk. The texture is crisp with soft edges, moderate carbonation. The strong bitterness did not blend well with the rest of the beer... for me at least.

Pours black with a light tan head thatís equal parts creamy and frothy. Mild aromas of coffee, vanilla and grain. Good flavor thatís smooth. A bit watery but good overall and refreshing, especially for a stout.

Roasty chocolatey malty coffee aroma with light caramel raisin Pours black with lasting creamy yellowish head Rich roasty slightly acrid burnt flavor with sweet bread and caramel Medium full bodied with medium low CO2, lingering burnt bitter malty finish Great aroma. Flavor is a bit too roasty and burnt/bitter for my taste. Still an enjoyable sipper, but won't buy again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
