2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Backlog rating. Bottle at the Chriso’s May tasting. This is obviously old and well past its prime. It pours a hazy amber color with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet, with notes of ripe melon, honey, dust and cardboard. Taste is again sweet and dusty, with more notes of honey, melon, dried leaves, cardboard. Medium bodied, quite sticky and soft carbonation. Overall, clearly too sweet, hops faded and lightly oxidised, did not stood well the test of (a bit of) time

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared at Chrisso’s May 2014 tasting 25/05/2014. Thanks to Tanya? Aroma is orange peel, resinous hop, caramel malts. Quite a lot of hot alcohol in the nose. Bright orange coloured pour with some haze and a loose fleeting white head. Flavour is harsh grapefruit bitterness, caramel malts, hot alcohol, slight skunk. Palate is chewy and resinous, with a harsh bitterness in the finish.

25th May 2014
Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Kernel rotbox treat. Hazy gold beer, tidy off white head. Light dry malt, semi sweet. Still a fair amount of hop bitterness here. Orange peel as well as bitter pine. Light dry finish shows some oxidisation. All things considered, it has survived well.

Bottle @ Chriso May 14 tasting. Pours amber, bitter prickly orange taste, fruity yeast, some spice and malts. I sense this is perhaps not in peak condition.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle from Wild Hops served in a snifter. Pours a dark hazy orange with a small non-persistent off white head. Powerful aroma of tropical fruits, grapefuit, mango, light caramel malts and pine needles. Mild alchool perception. Strong bitterness and resiny presence, but not at all overwhelming. The alchool is well hidden. Long bitter aftertaste. Medium body, medium carbonation and creamy texture. Textbook example of a DIPA, very nice!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Birratrovo, Como; bb 310514 L2013
Cloudy light amber color with medium sized creamy head. The aroma is only partially fruity, it’s mostly earthy, animal; there are also some soft hop resins. Good body strength; the malt flavor has accents of caramel and toffee, and it’s moderately sweet; strong bitterness, nothing close to the theoretical 409 IBU, but the hop is tired, not able to propose freshness; there is some orange jam; the hop resins tickle the tongue in the long final.
A good beer overall, but it seems an exercise that didn’t get to the highest result.
