75 cl bottle. Bottle No. 458/500.
Pours ruby red color with a small head. The red wine barreling is quite up-front on the aroma, wood, some earthy tones, mild Madeira sweetness. Very strong carbonation, sweet berry notes, dark malts, mild sourish berry notes. Would never have guessed the style if tasted blind, quite surprising. Nice.

750 ml bottle. 2013 vintage. #458/500. Thanks to Euphemos.
Dark reddish brown color with a grayish off-white head. Sweetness, red wine, sherry, peach and some maltiness in the aroma. Yummy! The flavor is sweetness, plums, red wine, port wine and malt. I like this. I could even say I love those.

8% ABV. Winter Brew Stout. Thick dark color. Imperial stout-grade. Nice medium head that dissolves quickly. Thick wheaty nose with a prominent enough beery mouthfeel that makes this imperial stout of a dark Belgian beer appear lighter than it really is. There are some roasted nutty flavors. I get walnuts at the finish which starts with a nice thick palate of ripe sugar plums and sun-dried dates after the initial alcoholic bite and the almost medicinal hops. Quite a pleasant overall experience, not as heavy as the abstrakts. Still something that for me will rapidly reach a point of diminishing returns. A one bottle wonder with a more Rubenesque body, voluptuous rather than lithe. This has to do with the relatively low carbonation.

750 ml. bottle sampled as “OWA Merry Christmas 2011” @ Barley Legal Tasting Room. Thanks to Kraddel! Dark brown, reasonable tanned head. Lots of glue / red wine , bit thin roasted, chocolate in the nose. Huge red wine everywhere in the taste, oak & tannins are a bit lighter in the back, sour red wine finish, grainy bit thin malt, dark fruits; skins. Bit thin, way nicer than the base beer but the base beer not being all that stellar keeps this from reaching real heights despite being a big step forward & quite lovely. The price tag from what I hear for this one is ridiculous.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Hazy deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy. Superfine carbonation. Light airy malts. Touch of seltzer. Mild red wine tang and fruits, very mild considering the length of time in the barrel. Light airy finish with a touch of wood. A grower.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to K-Bird. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Not bad overall, lots of dark fruits, bread, light metallic notes, some meat. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with some woody accents, more dark berries, toasty sugars. Nice enough.
