Brewed using Japanese Yuzu (lemon). The base lambic is blended with lambic matured 1-2 years in wooden barrel. After that, matured 1 year with selected Yuzu and second fermentation in the bottle, same as champagne yeast. Produced by Japanese brewer Leo Imai in Belgium. Limited to 200 bottles.

Flaska på Brekeriet Bar. Smak och doft av jäst, yuzu, grönt te, örter, citrusskal med toner av plommonkärnor. Syrlig, något sträv. Fina smaker och välbalanserad. En smakupplevelse.

Sampled from bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub thanks to Jean Paul. Hazy yellow color, small white to off-white head. Weird aroma of yeast, passion fruit, overripe apples. The combination of these also reminds me of some kind of cleaning agent. Taste is lightly sour, sourish fruitpeel, I guess yuzu, fruitpeel bitter, a hint of rotting fruit. Pretty weird. Interesting though.

750 mL bottle shared by Travlr at the DC Summer Saison & Sour Tasting, 7/12/14. Bottle 1053/2000. Pours a hazy lemon color with not much of a head. Aroma of fresh yuzu, citrus, herbal, pepper notes. Pale malt and mild vegetal notes. The taste is tart yuzu, citrus, vegetal notes, lemongrass, yeasty finish and pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering spice. Awesome.

2013 bottle. Hazy to cloudy golden color, white head. Aroma of dusty, peppery lemon. Taste is softly sour citrus, decent enough complexity.

A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a two-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a pale amber color that shows a lightly hazed, straw-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of funky citrus, it smells quite acidic, and a touch of an astringent pity bite perhaps. There is a soft, slightly earthy, lightly phenolic, somewhat musty, though only lightly Lambic like.

The beer isn’t quite as sour as the aroma would have suggested, but it is lightly tart, and the yuzu accentuates the tartness just a bit. There is an oily, citrus zest flavor here that leans heavily towards lime, but is a bit more funky in its fruit character. There is a definite bitterness to the citrus character, and a spicy citrus zest note that peppers up the finish. The body is fairly light, but has a touch of viscous heft to it, while the carbonation is fairly light, and could be a bit more zippy.

Not nearly as funky, or sour as I like my Lambics, but it is still interesting, and the Yuzu definitely makes this beer.

Bottle (shared at hannont’s house)... Poured pale, hazy amber with a mild forming head. Intense yuzu and tropical fruit aroma. Tart, acidic, but not too intense with the sourness. Light fruits, stone fruit, citrus and tropical characters with a nice, refreshing sourness in the end. Highly drinkable.

Bottle shared by Travlr. Pours lightly hazy gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is lemon, yuzu and vinous, black walnut notes, wheat malt and earthy hops. Flavor is lactic yuzu, light spices and hops, light bitterness with pithy citrus, light malt and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

Nice integration of yuzu and lambic bretta here. A cool Japanese experiment that came up very drinkable. Citrus and plum with grapefruit bretta. Bottle thanks to Travlr.

Huge thanks to Charles for sharing! Turbid orange pour with minimal head. Nose and flavor bring gigantic, authentic, mouth-watering yuzu character, hints of peach sweetness and odd traces of baking spice, bits of wooden and earthen funk. Gorgeous fruit character, but one-dimensional. I like it a lot, but as a lambic the depth just isn’t there.
