2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
In short: A messy chaotic amber ale with a dirty barnyard character. Not sure what to make of this one.
How: Bottle shared by my man Kyle at post HF FoFA 2013 party.
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by a small off-white head.
In long: Nose is dusty attic, dried oranges, cheese, barnyard, animals. Iím a lover of beer with a farmhouse character, but this one had a the wrong type of barnyard, the barnyard with packed with animals and excrement. In mouth the beer has a medium body and a fizzy carbonation. Taste is dusty rug, horse blanket, white cheese, a strange tartness, a touch of smoke, more... An overall sensation that something went wrong and this wasnít the intended result. It had plenty of individual flavors but when put together it was just a chaotic mess. If you are at a beer event and someone wants to offer you a glass of Oxbow Blended Oxtoberfest, please dial 911 but only after you have put yourself out of harmís way.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have a strange smokiness, herbal notes, funk, barnyard, tart fruits and toasted vanilla. Interesting, but strange for an octoberfest.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle provided by Todd, thanks a bunch! Pours a dark orange brown in color with a half fingers worth of white head. Nose is strangely smokey and somewhat plastic-y, with some light reisling in the background. Flavor is better, but still has a smoked meat quality. Not sure where exactly itís coming from. Light mouthfeel, good carbonation, and a moderate finish. Definitely an oddity, but happy to try it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
8oz pour at Meridian Pint. Clear dark orange with one ring of white head. Nose has tons of Riesling, plenty of brett too, grapefruit rind, light funk, malt, dandelion, band aid. Flavor is tart and sweet, white grape, grapefruit juice, a little raisin, orange pith, chrysanthymum. Full bright, tart finish. Very well blended.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nose is too smokey and phenolic for me. Flavor adds some acidity and toast without as much smoke. Medium body. Low funk.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle in Vail, courtesy of lukaduke. Pours a glowing orange appearance with a white head. Herbal, chewy hay, barnyard, wild cheesy, parmesan aroma. Tangy, very funky, cheesy, tart tangerine, wet horseblanket, somewhat herbal, bretty, a bit smoky, dry vinous flavor. Cheesy, funky, and wild. Not my favorite but loads of fun to try.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample from a bottle. Nose has some smoke, which is cool but very unexpected. Works well with the tart taste. Hazy amber orange color. Minimal off-white head. Lighter body. Very enjoyable, tasty and unique sour saison

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle thanks to lukaduke. Pours a translucent orange color with a white head of foam. The aroma is fruity, peppery, and tart. Taste is tart initially with some wine notes coming in toward the finish. Pretty good. Not sure Iíd call it an Oktoberfest, though.
