COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Farmhouse Pale Ale is our American interpretation of a hoppy saison. Belgian pilsner malt provides the base for an abundance of American hops and our farmhouse yeast to shine together in this refreshing ale.

Tap at Alewife, Baltimore - solid take on an americanized saison - hazy gold - thick, soapy lace - aromatic and floral nose, with mild funky phenolics - dry, crisp pils malt flavor - frothy mouthfeel - crackery malts give a firm base for the hop bitterness, and there is a light earthy funkiness to it, along with some light phenols of pepper and plastic (the good, Orval-ish kind) - light balancing sweetness to finish, but it is light, airy.sweetness - the more I drink of this, the more similarities to Orval I see - very nice.

On tap at Three Penny. Pours hazy, golden with a white head. Aroma of floral hops, some pale malts, light spices, some hints of light fruits, and light hints of tartness. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A solid saison.

On tap at the Prohibition Taproom for beer week. Aroma of grassy hop, some barnyard funk, and a nice buttery malt. Pours blonde with a great big foamy head. Taste is light with smooth grains, lemon zest, slight pepper and a delicious barnyard funk throughout. Very understated and well balanced. Downed this and immediately wanted more.

Draught (20cl) @ Mikkeller Bar ater CBC14.
App: Yellow/golden, soft haze, white head.
Aroma: Herbal/spicy and fruity with apples and oranges, some doughy yeast, hay. Nice and well made composition.
Taste: Sweet with citrus and apples, dough, herbs, straw, ends dry with a herbal bitterness. Feels pretty genuin and solid.
Palate: Medium body, soft foamy carbonation, oily with a dry ending.
Overall: A nice american interpretation of the style that doesn’t go out of it’s way too much and leaves a pretty true and balanced impression.

On draught at the brewery, pours hazy toasted orange brown with 2 finger head. Nose is full of bright spicy fruty yeast and balanced bready malt with hints of citrus. Taste is similar with nice flavorful yeasty spice, malt, soft bread and cereal, touches of citrus. A modern Maine classic.

At Macché in Rome. Pours hazy and vivid yellow, huge white long lasting foam. Nose of Belgian yeast, wheat, lemon. The initial sourness in the mouth develops in a range of other notes: yeasty feel, citrus and floral notes. Very balanced and refreshing, this is what I call an innovative reinterpretation of a Classic Belgian style. Congrats! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[4/30/14] Draught at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen. Cloudy yellow. Aroma of citric and “green” hops and some floral and spicy yeastiness with funky notes. Dry-ish flavor, floral, spicy, citric, yeasty and hoppy with a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.

From draught: Pale golden-orange with slight haze. Attractively floral nose of apricot, tangerine and lemon with hints of toasted cracker and plasticlike phenols. Softly prickly carbonation. Floral and juicily hoppy with assertive tangerine notes elegantly harmonizing with an appetizing lemony twinge. Ensuing well-rounded tartness dovetails with the lively hop acids and vibrant apricot. Malt remains clean and gracefully supportive, gently lending a firm and toasty dryness alongside some grippy piecrust textures. A welcome crunch of phenols imparts requisite character and depth while augmenting the clean attenuation. Surge of polished fruity esters fill out the body’s leanness, as do the brightly flavorsome hops. Well-balanced finish is pleasantly flowery, orange pithy and gently spicy with a palate-scrubbing charge of peppery phenols seamlessly fusing with a dry and crunchy pils malt anchor. Citric flavors ensue with each belch. This shares a lot of similarities with Ommegang Hop House as it’s quite clean and showcases the American hops with a great deal of finesse instead of a heavy-handed brutishness (thankfully there is no silly resin or grapefruit here to muddle the delicateness). It takes a good brewer to coax a lot from a little (as subtle as this is), and that’s pretty much what they’ve done here. Really wanna try this with more soul and improved mouthfeel, i.e. bottle-conditioned. Lovely beer.

Skinnyviking (7129) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 11, 2014
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, shared with Rune. Low fluffy and quickly disappearing white head. Hazy yellow body. Fruity and pretty hoppy aroma with acidic tones of lemon and grapefruit. Flavor likewise pretty acidic to sour fruity with a good deal of hops bitteerness as well. Low carbonation, long bitter finish.
