Farmhouse Pale Ale is our American interpretation of a hoppy saison. Belgian pilsner malt provides the base for an abundance of American hops and our farmhouse yeast to shine together in this refreshing ale.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2015 Draught at Portland location, 6/19/15
Mildly hazy beeswax colored body has some lighter tangerine hues and a medium-sized white head that receded to cover rapidly.
Tangy, spicy and heavily fruity hoppiness in the nose still allows for light honeyed malts and graceful esters to break through, greeting the nose with some acidity, breadiness and moderate bitterness.
Straightforward citrus hoppiness gives a moderately bitter base, while comforting, well-extrated pils malt adds dough, honey and bread leading to a wonderfully dry finish replete with esters, light peppery phenols and just a hint of rusticity. Maybe a touch too much fruit and citrus emerge, overall, in concert with some bready maltiness and light bubble gum esters, but it adds more body and makes it a little more assertive. Other than that, though, there’s little/no resin, no sugariness and no alcohol or flaws. A delicious, world-class flagship beer, by anyone’s standard.

On tap @ Jacob's Pickles in NYC. Gold blonde color with a foamy head. Bread and citrus are noted right up front. Sweet taste at first followed by some hops and a sticky finish. Nice! 9 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, citrus, peach, funk and orange. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long slightly dry, yeasty, citrus and orange finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, multiple pours, hazy golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice funk, lemon, oak into some tropical fruit, some vanilla with hint of dough, yeast into a bit of peach, apricot. Taste was a mix of peach, pear, some nice tropical fruit into some funky, oaky notes, touch of brett, slight yeast, hints of citrus, vanilla, finishing slightly tart, dry, slightly bitter.

Pours clear blonde , smell is funky, typical saison, intense. Taste is bitter, grains, dry. Intense saison taste, but less dry than belgian equivalents.

Top 3 from the Portland weekend. It’s a saison and I found myself ordering it over and over again- so that basically says it all. Beautiful golden orange with persistent white head. Served in correct, Oxbow glassware every single time so someone is doing their job. Nice citrus, malty, bready notes upfront but hops keep it from being overly sweet. Finishes dry and crisp. Bit of funk and sour in there adds interest. Paired equally well with Duckfat fries and Miyake noodles. Stellar beer.

12oz pour at Pizza Paradisio Wash, D.C. Thin white head. Loose bits of lace. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lightly effervescent light to moderate carbonation. Moderate sweet taste, light tart, touch of citrus, light zest. Belgian yeast. Tasty tart kind of citrusy saison, nice mild sour.

On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione buona. Davvero una gran bella birra.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a sparklingly clear light golden color with a huge persistent frothy bone white head. Funky earthy spicy aromas with just a hint of bread. The flavor follows the aroma but ads just a touch of light citrus fruitiness. Great lightly funky brew.
