Everything about this beer screams, "fresh!"Golden amber blonde color, nice foamy white head. Smells of hops and citrus which resonates in the taste as well. The tanginess of hops mixes well with the yeasty flavors. A great first offering from a very promising up and coming Maine brewery.

Drank on draft at Lion’s Pride 8/16/11. Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale is an excellent summer addition to the world of beer. Pours a slightly cloudy golden/copper hue with a good inch of fluffy white head. Grassy nose. The addition of a healthy portion of American hops uplifts a solid Belgian backbone. Nice and dry, and slightly floral. Very refreshing. A fantastic brew from a brand new Maine brewery. I will very much look forward to future releases from Oxbow.

On tap at Buck’s Naked BBQ (Freeport, ME): hazy golden body with a half finger white foamy head immediately dies and leaves no lacing, aroma is spicy sweet with some pepper, coriander, and slight earthy yeastiness up front, slight malts in the background, taste is spicy sweet through previously mentioned flavors, palate is sharp most likely through the peppery/coriander but the carbonation is moderate, fairy sessionable, overall, is this a combination of an American Pale Ale and a saison, if so, I absolutely love it and never thought any brewery in this entire world could pull that off? Kudos to Oxbow if this is what they tried to do, if not, hey I like this one a lot.

Tap at The Lion’s Pride on a massive Tuesday night drinking session there, 8/16/11. They told me this one was a brand-spanking new beer from a brand-spanking new Maine brewer and that I absolutely must try it. Glad the staff pushed me that way, because this was amazing. Pours a cloudy gold with a finger-thick eggshell white head that sticks the whole way down and laces the glass unevenly. Aroma of nice farmhouse funk, hay, pale malts, and fresh grassy, herbal hops. Nice balance of an American pale ale with a Belgian saison. Same holds for the flavor, which brings more funk, bready malts, straw, and hops that lean more toward the floral and earthy than herbal and grassy. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, bready, funky mouthfeel. Rustic and lovely. Holy smokes, will I be seeking out more from Oxbow.

Draught at Smoke and Barrel in DC. Hazy teak pour with a nice frothy head. Nose and flavor really meld the saison/hoppy pale ale beautifully; awesome bready dough mixing with delightful citric fruit and touches of lavender, perfume, lemongrass. Caressing through the mouthfeel until a superbly dry finish. Excellent.
