On tap at Novare Red, Portland, Maine. A yellow, unclear beer with a small white head leaving curtains. It’s quite fruity on the nose, with some grains. Citrusy and lightly flowery. It’s dry, medium bodied and with a high but nice carbonation level. There’s an appropriate bitterness in the flavor, it’s fruity and lightly grainy. Lasting finish. A thirst quenched. Easy drinkable. 150609

Keg at the brewery. Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. The nose holds zesty lemon and biscuity pale malts, some straw. Light sweet flavor with pleasant dry dough, some salty sourdough bread, lemon peel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish, lightly bitter, with further hay, citrus peel and restrained, biscuity pale malt sugars. Great balance, super drinkable. Great.

(Rating #5250)

In short: A crisp and dry blonde Saison with a fresh countryside character. Great thirst beer
How: Tap at Hill Farmstead Farmhouse Saison Festival 2012
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is bright, fresh, rustic, a walk in a countryside field, flowers notes. Taste is clean, bright, honeyed grainy fresh cereals, flower petals, nice rustic character, crisp wheat, chewing of hay and sun dried wild flowers from a countryside field, herbal hoppy notes. A little honey on the attack but overall rather dry from start to finish. Body never feels thin despite the 4%. A classic thirst Saison, and at 4% this is one you can enjoy by the pints. I’m sold to this type of thirst beer so I’m probably overrating it. Another great Saison I had at the Hill Farmstead Saison Festival, and my wife says she feels like I totally forget about her when I’m at a beer festival with so lots of awesome beers… what the f... I’m married?
