3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
300 ml bottle from City Market in Burlington VT (March 2008), served cold from a White Winter Winery glass. Very clear, perhaps a slight yellowish tint, a bit oily-looking, very faint legs in the glass.....beautiful delicate floral/coconut aroma with a bit of lychee as it warms up a bit, not a trace of alcohol in the nose....quite sweet and rich on the palate at the front, lightly nutty-milky and malty, drying and becoming assertively alcoholic and somewhat metallic at the finish, but not problematically so....ends rather quickly, warming. Pretty solid overall, perhaps a bit much to drink a whole bottle of (which I’m doing anyway).

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at Marc’s fusion. From notes. Maybe I just don’t get sake, but it really just tastes like rice. Maybe a little green melon?

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not sure if was supposed to be served warm, but the place I had it at served it that way. I had probably 6 ounces of this before throwing in the towel. It poured nearly clear but had a glassy green tint to it. Kind of like those Japanese bottles that have marbles in them. Aroma was linen like with some funk. Notes of socks said my wife. She couldn’t stomach the aroma and didn’t try it. Moderate rice flavor with that sake funk. It had a light burn. Ok. But I wouldn’t get it again.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle, from trade with fonefan. A clear one, with a faint yellow body. Green bananas, petroleum, alcohol and some rice in the aroma. Cheesy. It’s quite boozy, oily and thin bodied, with rice, cheese and some petroleum. Lasting cheesy and petroleum-ish finish with alcohol and booze. Not very good this one, close to drainpour. 150411

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
300 ml bottle bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui.
Clear and colourless; Fragrant aroma of rice wine, with fresh pears, peaches, ume (Japanese apricot), alcohol, sugar and light boiled glutinous rice; Medium sweet taste of rice spirit, with mashed pear flesh, light floral, strong warming alcohol and moderate tartness; Light body, dry and watery palate; Mouth feel is fairly dry - sake style - in a very watery body. Fairly strong rice tartness background, with nice light pureed pear closely followed by strong, smart, slightly warming 15% booze, which is light, sharp but never harsh. Very likeable and dangerous… Fairly dry after taste; Light and fruity to mouth.
Comments: This one is a crowd pleaser because it’s so easy to mouth with nice peary esters and seemingly timid alcohol. Don’t be fooled: this is a nice sipper from the get-go. Just respect it and you’ll be rewarded with a relaxing session. A nice and easy one!
