Ozujsko Pivo, a blond beer, is Croatia’s leading brand, dating from 1893. The selection of hops and barley gives Ozujsko (5.2% ABV) a refreshing taste and fine bitter aroma. It should be served at 3°C with compact foam.

Note: Dropped from 11.5° and 5.2% to 11° and 5.0% in late 2009/early 2010.

Thanks phaleslu for sharing. Clear yellow color. White head. Decent lace. Ropes and bits of lace. Looks decent. Bread, kind of peppery, straw. Not offensive. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation, light slick. Light to moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, bit of a bite. Not great, but fun to try.

500 ml can shared by phaleslu. I think this is my first Croatian beer as well. Pours a pale yellow/light gold color with a large white head. The aroma was pretty standard for a pale lager which basically means bad; corn, pale malts, grass, generally blah. The flavor has corn, pale malts, crackers, grass and earth, some metallic character, light bodied, basic crappy pale lager.

500 ml can from Keir- thanks again, Keir! This one’s for Marko- my first Croatian beer. It doesn’t smell the greatest. Pours a pale yellow-gold color with a big frothy white head. Pale and crackery malts are dampened by really wet straw and grass and earth. Light-bodied, with a damp, earthy mouthfeel that finishes kind of metallic and has moderate carbonation. Not the best showing from Croatia in this one, but I know they have a lot more and better stuff out there.

500ml can. Normal beer. Foamy head disappearing very quickly. Acceptable taste, but nothing special. A little too watery.

50 cl can. Thanks rosenbergh!
Pours pale clear golden color with a small head. Quite hoppy and grassy aroma, faint herbs too. Fruity, herbal flavor, hay and some toffee. Decent.

500 ml can. Thanks rosenbergh. Pours a golden colour with a large white head. Aroma is very grassy, some grains and mild herbal notes. Flavour of rich herbal hops, some grass, graininess and mild sweetness. Light bodied and quite high carbonation. Quite nicely balanced. One of the best pale lagers, which really represent themselves as pale lagers, without even trying to be premium lagers. A hobo beer.
