Since 2001, contract-brewed for Pabst Brewing (San Antonio), as Pabst no longer owns a brewery of its own.

Established in Milwaukee in 1844, this is the original Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Nature’s choicest products provide its prized flavor. Only the finest of hops and grains are used. Selected as America’s Best in 1893.

Tried from a bottle from an Irish pub in Brooklyn. Pours clear yellow with a light white head. hay, grain and water in the smell and taste. Clean, boring, watery. It’s better than bud but not by much.

This is a good beer for what it is. It has a nice clean taste and it goes down smooth.

Gone on a diet recently, and the mountains of research material I plowed through indicated finally that all the heavy bodied, high ABV brews that I love were indeed high in calories. What to do? Quit drinking beer? And diet at the same time? Out of the question! A man can only do so much. So, casting about for a solution (with the so-called ’light’ or ’lite’ beers never even considered) I hit on PBR... certainly significantly cheaper than the fairly similar Bud. A few successful weeks into the diet, I’m still not sick of the PBR, although I allow myself a few trips back to the world of real beer every week. As it’s summer, the whole ’lawnmower beer’ thing also helps make the ordeal less unpleasant. Owned by a California conglomerate and brewed in the Miller/Coors multiplex colossus in Milwaukee, it is palatable so far.

Bottle from SB 150702. Clear light yellow wigh a vanishing white head. Rather sweet aroma with corn and banana, otherwise watery. Is there any hops at all ? Typical american lager crap. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,71l can, shared by suurjuust, thanks! Pours yellow with white head. The head stays for some moments. Aroma is corn, cardboard. Flavor is sweet, corn, malt. Overall: bad.

Clear pale yellow, big white head. Nose is paper and some corn. Flavor is grain and corn, sweetness. No hops to speak of. Corn in the retronasals. Pretty swilly.

Hint of yellow in the pour, rumor of a white head that proves false before I finish pouring. Nose is grain, and by grain I mean corn. Mostly sweet. Middle is almost nonexistent; faint malty sweetness, little hay. Finish dries a little...there must be hops in here somewhere. I can see why I never really bothered with this one before.

Provided by Eugene. Embracing my Portland hipster roots. A: Clean gold, white head. N: Corn, grass, some pine, more vegetal nature, straw. T: Not a bad flavor, though, there’s not much of it. Which is fine; I prefer that to doughy yeastiness. M: Light body, clean, no alcohol. O: Damn, I hate to admit it, but I could slum with this. Not bad for being mass produced swill....I want to cut myself. Just ignore my rating and move on. I’m ashamed.

On tap at Fat Head’s, thanks for making me drink this Eugene. Pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. It’s a macro lager - what else is there to say? It’s clean and drinkable, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Fine for what it is, but obviously not exciting.
