Pacific Beach Ale House Bourbon Barrel Porter

On tap @ the brewpub, served in a wine glass. Deep ruby with a creamy, long-lasting 1/2 finger beige head. Bourbon dominates with the brown sugar, oak, and vanilla notes followed by some roast and light booziness. Doesn’t quite seem overbourbonated yet. Flavor is overbourbonated with a thin body that turns the beer into a weak shot. There is a little roast--not much else. Dry woody finish with bitterness @ a 2-3 and slightly burnt. Watery body with light prickly carbonation. Proof that if you put a beer in a barrel it doesn’t make it good.
