CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA May 12, 2007 Had the small glass of this and really enjoyed it. Jet black and thin tan head that laced the glass beautifully. Coffee comes thru loud and clear. Reminds me of Dark Lord...not as good, but at least you can get it! The don’t always have this one on tap, but is worth it if there.
rayOfBeer (265), El Cerrito, California, USA Sep 5, 2008 Poured from tap at the brewery an inky black with small creamy tan head. Flavor is a combination of bittersweet dark chocolate, powdery dark grains and coffee with a touch of dark fruit and oats. The palate starts powdery dry and finishes bitter sweet with some charcoal at the end. It is also thick, malty and smooth creamy. No detectable alcohol for a 10 percenter. Overall, a nice sipping, flavorful imp stout. pinkzambia (889), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 26, 2008 Tap @ brewpub: Inky black with a light brown head and sticky lacing. The aroma is overwhelmingly sweet, too sweet -- all alcohol. It has weird flavors of a mix of bitter coffee, fermaldahyde, urine and alcohol. This has the potential of being good, but yuck. WeeHeavySD (1865), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Apr 20, 2007 Sampler at the Brew pub, 3/31/07. Nitro. Porus black with a light tan head. Teh aroma is big with notes of coffee and mlat. The taste is really quite nice with a rich sweet coffee and chocolate feeeling. This beer is the best of the buch for Pacific Coast, and its damn light for a 10% brew. woodlawn (2), Indiana, USA does not count Jun 25, 2006 On tap in Oakland. Very dark black, creamy beer with cocoa and coffee flavors. Smooth and not strong alcohol. Not the most complex of the type I’ve had but very tasty, a great intro to the style for my wife. Very nice -- I wish I could have this more often.
