Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 7, 2006 Nice label...Brokeback Ale. Lightish amber-brown colour with thick white head. Bland, vaguely caramelly and crackerlike aroma with unionmade undertones. Fairly light body, a little spritzy with hints of crackers or matzo. Not much else. Fairly clean, yes, but good beer does not conjur images of passover crackers. motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Jul 17, 2008 bottled, bought in japan. amber enough, faintly nutty aroma, pretty bland - light caramel and no bitterness to speak of JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jan 27, 2006 330 ml bottle. Clear pale amber beer with a thick, fluffy, off-white head. Pale malt, light caramel, industrial huskiness, and a touch of vegetal character. Flavour is pretty bland, industrial pale malts with a kiss of colour. Not bad, but far from good. Faint grassy flavour with perhaps even a touch of skunkiness. CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 29, 2006 (Bottle) I always wondered who made this beer as it seemingly has a strong distribution across the province... or perhaps its so noticeable because its the most often beer in the singles bin at the BC Liquor Store. I was tempted to try this two years ago while on Bowen Island, than last year in Vancouver so finally I’ll give it a go in Victoria. Purchased at the BC Liquor Store in Fairfield Plaza, Victoria. Pours a quick dissipating white frothy head with a amber body beneath. Nose of bread and caramel. Not overly complex, a peanut butter dough cookie batter flavour tripping into a caramel malt. HogTownHarry (3200), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada May 1, 2008 Bottle (341ml - green). Shared by GregClow with blankboy, jerc and tupalev. Clear amber, small head (3-). Grassy, pungent near-skunky aroma, honey sweetness. The taste though - harsh metal and stale weeds, long ugly finish. Average body, that harshness just grabs your tongue and holds it ransom - unpleasant to the extreme - I didn’t hate the aroma, but a few of the others just swore at the aroma.
