UPDATED: NOV 15, 2006 (Bottled) Clear, pale golden color with a small, fading head. Acidic, sweetish, corny-malty aroma with honey hints. Quite sweet and acidic, corny-buttery flavor with grassy hops in the finish. The hopping reminds me of the Koff brews a few years back. Light-bodied, slicky and fizzy-carbonated palate. Not the worst mexican lager - and actually has some flavors, too.

Better than Corona, but that is about it. No real good beer characteristics to speek of. Light color, light flavor (not as light as light macros), and light finish. I would recommend over some of the other Mexican swill, but not many.

Not much aroma, just a hint of skunk. Pale yellow with a white head. (How often do you say that when rating pale lagers?) Light flavor of malt and then a citrus-lemon finish.

Well, it’s better than Corona, but that isn’t really saying much, is it? The aroma and flavor are mild, with no real hop characteristics and no malty sweetness. There has got to be a lot of adjunct in here, probably rice judging from how neutral the beer is. It’s pretty much on par with Bud heavy, which is to say it’s better than macro light beers but not as good as almost all micros, even the big ones like Leinie’s or Sam’s. But almost any other microbrew will serve you better, give you more flavor and more type-specific characteristics. However, if you must have a Mexican brew try a Negra Modelo instead, that’s a lot better than this stuff.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2005 Bottle: Not as easy/thin as Corona, and I thought almost tasted like some pale ales, but I’m new to the good beer thing and am not the best at judging (trying).

I enjoyed this beer as I thought i was going to be drinking something along the lines of corona and this was much better.

Granted this isn’t a real popular style for most of us on this site. But of the beers within the style, this isn’t bad. I got this one weekend when our local Mexican joint ran out of Negra Modelo. Thinking Corona when I ordered it, I was pleasantly surprised. No, it hasn’t become of a favorite but "in case of emergency" taking internally is acceptable.

It’s likely been about 20 years since I’ve had this on south of the border night at the 5th Amendment in Reedsburg, Wi... so I guess it’s time to give this another try. Straw color with a diminished fizzy white head. Aromas of resin, pale malt, and menthol; which after the Bud Select is quite full. Sweet pale malt backed up by little else. "Elmer’s" glue does seem to come to mind.

Slighlt better than the typical mexican beers. Better than corona and dos equis lage. Clear golden with little white head. A little bit malty in a good way.

SLight hops at least in this pale but other than that pretty much run of the mill.
