I had this beer in Mexico near where it was produced. Cracked open a bottle at the beach. When put in context, the beer is not as bad as it would have been if it had been served in any other fashion. Sat on the beach and drank this watering beer, from time to time taking a dip in none other than the Pacific ocean. Definitely not a good beer but still a memorable experience in the hot mexican sun.

A Mexican beer at a Mexican restaurant, that I ordered because there was nothing else except Corona on the menu. There’s really little to report on this beer -- there’s no real aroma or flavor, just a general taste of sweet water with a bit of hop bitterness. Bad.

355ml bottle into schooner glass. From Porters, Bexley. Pours pale amber with sweet malt nose. Head of white bubbles disappears immediately leaving behind a glass of fizzy yellow/brown water. Harsh carbonation, no taste. Finish is a tiny touch of metal and old chewing gum. Very little to differentiate this from ’savings brand’ mineral water apart from the colour.

Malty, paper, hops smell. Light pissy appearance. Taste is hay, grain, malt, very little hop.. Medium-high carbonation, but easily drinkable. Somewhat strange aftertaste.

On tap @ Brass Monkey. As crystal clear as they come and pretty much pale golden in the glass. A nice lacing white head the top though. Smells surprisingly decent. A little fruit sour, there’s tones of sweet corn and a little caramel sweetness. Mild. Well, it’s a fizzing one on the carbonation for sure, and it’s quite thin oily, near watery in the mouth. This was a bit of a letdown in the taste. Boring pale lager with a little bit of biscuits sweetness. Not a horrible one though. 10.06.2015

Pours a very clear light golden color. About one finger white head. Very short lived. No retention, very light lacing.

Aroma is light. I smell corn and light malt. I smell some metallic stuff, and maybe mineral water. Not a lot going on.

Taste is corn and light malts. Somewhat sweet Crispix cereal taste. Some hops, but barely. There’s that metallic thing again.

Mouthfeel is light bodied. Watery and dry. Good carbonation really tickles the tongue. Barely bitter. Metallic thing pops up again. It’s very drinkable, and that’s the best part of it.

Overall, it’s alright. It’s not as good as I expected it to be. No, can’t say I’d buy this again. You offer it to me, and I’m gonna drink it, but I’m not gonna buy it. No, wouldn’t recommend it.

Olhão 10/7 2016. 35,5 cl bottle from Jumbo Supermarket. Very yellow label with all kinds of maritime paraphernalia to assure me that this beer has a solid relation to the pacific. Pours clear pale yellow with white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam. Enthusiastic carbonation. Aroma is very sweet with notes of soap and glue. Not especially pleasant. Strong carbonation and watery palate. Taste is heavily sweet without much bitterness. I imagine that this could be perceived as a pleasure and a relief if you drink it in 42 celcius in the Sun. Otherwise do not bother.

Golden yellow with a sickly sweet aroma. Quite carbonated. Wow, this is bad. Coors Light kind of bad. Now, I’ve added a lime and it tastes better. Only because, it masks the putrid flavor and tones down the fizz factor. At only 4.5% it won’t even give you a buzz, so there is absolutely no reason to ever drink this swill again. If this was the only beer at the party, I would go home.

On tap at Hacienda. Pale yellow color, with a white ring and some bubbles. The aroma is hay, lemonade, corn, and some light honeysuckle. Sweet and sugary, with a only a hint of bitterness. Light body, crisp, slightly acidic, and lightly carbonated. This is a weak beer, but refreshing. Nothing noteworthy, but nothing too bad. Pairs surprisingly well with chips and salsa...

As boring and typical as I thought it would be. Aroma is a bit unpleasant, but the flavor isn’t too bad. The taste is about halfway between a pilsener and a lager. The bold yellow can may want to suggest liquid sunshine, but the beer points to a different interpretation.

"Cerveza Pacifico Clara" hey? My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I think that translates as "Fresh Skunk Piss from a Lair near to the Pacific Ocean", or not. It actually wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t that good either. When you want those Spanish Angels that Ray Charles was always crooning about load your tubby ass up on the Blatz and the senoritas are bound to get jiggy on your old wrinkled member. Or not.
