1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
I had this beer in Mexico near where it was produced. Cracked open a bottle at the beach. When put in context, the beer is not as bad as it would have been if it had been served in any other fashion. Sat on the beach and drank this watering beer, from time to time taking a dip in none other than the Pacific ocean. Definitely not a good beer but still a memorable experience in the hot mexican sun.

Cerveza done cerveza here. Slightly more going on than some but still quite skunky with just enough grassy hops to keep reasonable. Light citrus note and high high carbonation.

Bottle in LA. Pours pale straw. JAPL - pale lager, clean and refreshing enough. Completely unexciting but it hits the spot on a hot day (which it is) and I paid <$1 a bottle.

330ml bottle. Inoffensive but, by the same merit, insipid. Grain, grass, cardboard and lemon characters. Light-bodied and watery, medium carbonation and a short, soft almost non-existent ’finish’.

Really not a bad pale lager, although a little sweet, not as skunky corny as a lot of the big American producers. Could totally drink a lot of these in the summer time when it’s hot, which it was today.

A good go to Mexican beer. Solid enough. Usually cheap. Nice solid falvor, dense, has a bit of a bite and a tiny drying effect. Corn, cheapo grains, some citrus or floral, malt. Decent enough. Great with tacos.

1.2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Mexican beer is usually not so exciting and this Pacifico Clara is no exception. It has relatively high carbonation, a very anonymous aroma and an equally anonymous and watery taste. However, the aftertaste is slightly more pronounced hoppy bitterness than, for example. the Mexican lagers Sol and Corona, but lager to European taste it is not a great deal. It is thirst quenching, and will therefore be suitable for fine traditional Mexican cuisine.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2015 Don?t hate on this beer. Compared to west coast ipa?s etc sure it sucks but that?s apples and oranges. For slamming beers on the beach in august it?s really a decent beverage. Totally not in the same class as bud / miller etc. A bit more robust than corona.

Tap @ Mexico Restaurant. Very pale with thin white head. Smells kind of metallic and a little citric- not bad, but not much there. Taste follows, a hint of honey. A light hop character emerges as it warms. Not bad for cheapo brew.
