355mL bottle, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose brings out rich wood, bourbon barrels, and some roasted malt in back - very complex. Flavour is exceptionally well-balanced, with many different elements working in good harmony - with moderate bourbon barrels of high quality, a little wood, some roasted malt and a little caramel. Now this is how you do a bourbon barrel imperial stout. Extremely highly drinkable and smooth on the palate. Wonderful stuff.

2011 bottle as part of a mystery box sent by Dresden, thanks man! Dark viscous pour with minimal chocolate tan head, looks like chocolate syrup. Aroma is oak, vanilla, some slight sour, ash, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste, lots of chocolate, very syrupy, with light carbonation, some maple bourbon, oak, very smooth finish with no heat from the booze. Excellent RIS, well done!

Unknown canadian bottle size. Balck pour, really nice sweet and cocoa interplay with the caramel and bourbon and the stout base.

12oz bottle. Tasted at RBSG grand tasting post-tasting. Dark brown, near black color. Thin ring of off-white head. Dots of lace. Kind of a bigger whiskey barrel heat, evident just in the nose. Dark chocolate aroma. Some coffee. Whiskey. Moderate sweet taste, some barrel, moderate bitter, little dry alcohol. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft chewy lighter carbonation. Very light carbonation. Light slick. Hint of vegetal. Solid BA imperial stout.

Bottle thanks to Kevin. Lots of ash tobacco and booze in every aspect but still ends enjoyably.

2014-03-05. Black body, modest tan head fades a bit. 3+ Aroma is alcoholic, but not overly so, bourbon? Mild mocha roast notes grow as it warms. Flavour is relatively bitter, with a good amount of mocha and roasty bitterness, moderate alcohol character throughout, bourbon/whiskey notes come out in the finish and linger in the aftertaste. The barrel is quite present but not over the top. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate has lower carbonation that it deserves. 3+ Mild alcohol tingle in the mouth lingers, but the alcohol is surprisingly restrained otherwise. Good, I donít love the barrel influence and it covers up some lovely chocolate and mocha undertones but I suspect that the base stout might be less complex than it is with the barrel. Decent. Bottle via trade with tbadiuk, cellared several months.

This is a hell of a beer in itís own very strange, and VERY intense way. -- Aroma: 7/10. VERY strong notes of vanilla, alcohol, fruitcakey in that heavy, dense aroma of roasted malts and sweetness. -- Appearance: 5/5. Beautiful opaque brown-black pour with a one-finger brown head that faded into dark brown lacing. -- Taste: This one was really tough to rate! The initial bite was so intense with the roasted malts and hops that I was really turned off by it... until I tried sip two and three, where the flavors really evolved in the back of my throat. Flavor of intense cocoa, almost like drinking Kahlua, with a lot of hops added in. Intensely bitter, but that fades to leave a flavor lingering in the throat of more intense cocoa mixed with chocolate icing. Itís sweet, and intensely aromatic, and the finish is *minutes* long. -- Palate: 4/5. Syrupy, smooth, lightly astringent and slightly carbonated. -- Overall: 16/20. This is an intense beer, and that initial bite will be brutal. But once youíre past that, the sweet, intense flavour makes this a fantastic dessert beer. Definitely pair it with some intense, dark chocolate cake.
