Stunning black in colour. Very little head. Beautiful aroma of dried fruit, prunes. Taste of chocolate.

Bottle. Truly an enjoyable beer. The color is dark and appealing, the nose brings forth large amounts of cherry and dark chocolate. The lower carbonation lends to the sweetness and slight bitterness that makes this beer simply irresistible. Well done.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Holy crap is this awesome! Pitch black brew with a nice sized medium brown cap that settles thick and leaves nice dissipating lacing. The aroma is wonderful: slick bourbon sweetness and the mellow warming spice that accompanies it, raisin and light smooth smoke, premium plus salted tops, dull sweet chocolate that almost seems to have a mint quality - sort of. Caramel and plenty of toasty malts - this thing instantly reminded me of some of the more notable US barrel aged stouts. The taste is very good. The feel is a bit tricky with my brain thinking there are thinner moments even though this is a thick, silky treat. Oily even - with only a hint of the alcohol feel. Full mouth of lots of stuff like (Spain is OWNING Ireland) raisins and dark fruitiness behind that, a huge bouron contingency with its sweet alcohol and candy like caramel, burnt logs (wood, you ninnies), roast and toast, licorice and mild peppering. I just ran out of beer - Iím sure I could have made up more shit. Very excellent beer that just replaced Mikkeller George! for my new BA stout (if there is any left). Drink this you tools.

(750ml bottle) Courtesy of Left4Beer. Difficult extraction on the cork... Alas the bottle was flat. Nose is fantastic: soya sauce, wood mulch, leather and coffee. Dead flat. Smooth front but tasteless until mid-palate. Slight tartness.

Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 04/20/2012. Colour: Black, with one of the darkest heads Iíve ever seen. Nose: Strong onslaught of buttered toast. Rightly accompanying it are notes of blackberry jam...and then there is engine oil, fig, stale coffee in the pot and medium grilled steak. Lots of character but not overly balanced. Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter, medium sour. Not overly sweet which allows the alcohol to show through. The malt bursts with toasted notes of char and strong coffee. There are some late cola notes and the finish is evident with burnt wood but surprisingly sublime considering. Something just not quite fully balanced throughout.

Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall glass Pours opaque black, thin dark tan head, spotty lacing. Nose is oily, with powdered milk, vanilla, and toasty barrel predominant. Flavours of vanilla, coconut, smoke, tar, biscuit, nice mocha/barrel finish. Best thing to come out of Saskatchewan since... Hmmm... actually this is the best thing to ever come out of Saskatchewan!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355ml bottle pours jet black with a finger of light brown head that settles to a thin cap and leaves a spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is complex with some sweet malts and wood with hints of smoke and chocolate. Flavors are very nicely balanced with malty sweetness and a pleasant hoppy bitterness. Much more complex than I can describe. Medium to heavy body with decent carbonation. This is a truly outstanding imperial stout and highly recommended.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Holy hell BATMAN!!! What a great stout. Pours out a purely opaque black with a thin cap of dense tan head. Swirling leaves a few lacing splotches on the glass. Big bubbles form in the head and it dies slowly to a thin cap but regenerates easily. The nose has a massive roast with woody and earthy notes, a hint of vanilla and definite presence of chocolate and a hint of smoke. Overall, a beautiful nose with a big woody, barrel aged and roasted notes. My first sip has sweet well roasted malts with chocolate and espresso notes. A bit of an overwhelming finish and aftertaste with prolonged dryness and astringent hop bitterness. The aftertaste has a sweet presence and a lingering woody and slightly smoked roast. A bit of vanilla becomes noticable as the beer warms up. This beer has a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, but its way to thin and watery for an Imperial Stout. This beer is like a slice of devils food cake with a sidecar of Wild Turkey....its like dessert.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341ml bottle from Dresden. Black with a dark brown head that fades quickly. Lots of milk chocolate / hot chocolate powder, some bourbon yet mellow, bit of vanilla, slightly roasted malts but quite sweet. Sweet, quite smooth, moderate to thin body, lots of chocolate, low carbonation, some vanilla, slight bitterness and alcohol towards the end, somewhat dry. Very interesting and tasty but a bit chalky and the chocolate is quite strong.
