Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 16, 2006
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color beer with a huge foamy brown color head with pretty good retention. Aroma of roasted malt is detectable though not overpowering. Taste is a mix between roasted malt, coffee with a lingering smoke. Body has a creamy feel to it, which is quite enjoyable.

341ml bottle pours a deep amber brownish color with a finger and a half of off-white head that settles to leave some thin lacing on the glass. Aromas of toasted malts and a traces of coffee and smoke and some grassy hops. Taste is smokey with a malty sweetness a touch of coffee and a grassy hop bitterness in the finish that lingers for some time. Medium body and carbonation. This is quite a pleasing dark lager.

Bottle at Joe’s tasting. First beer of te night. Very dark brown pour with a slight foam cap. Light sucrose, light roast, beety, wheat. Kind of cucumber and ash flavor, with strong peanut brittle. A bit sharp.

Aroma is a robust roasty malt, deep auburn, red at the edge. Taste of the malt is subdued compared to the nose. Light bodied, balanced, easy drinking. Very good. Thanks RadekKliber.

Bottle: Brown with orange hue and a head of tan film. Nice malt aroma- chocolate roast and wood. Body is slightly thin, but has a decent malt spiciness. Some mild earthy chocolate roast is in there with a mild bitter finish. Solid German style Lager.

Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 21, 2008
Bottle shared by and with Jerc and Mabel. Dark brown, good sized off white head. Mild malt and mild hops in aroma. Nice malty taste, lots of sneaky hops in finish. Light tingly body. Seems right on style and well done.

garthicus (2336) - Dublin, IRELAND - JAN 8, 2009
Blankboys bottle, shared with HogTownHarry and I. Appearance: Ruby red brown with very small floaties, large off white head. Aroma: Peppery, yeasty, slight alcohol, slight rye/malt. Flavour: Grassy, slight coffee, slight pilsner indeed! Hmm, not my favourite style but good all the same.

Dark molasses and papery aroma, spicy noble hops too. Jet black, lasting sticky white head. Dark in roast, light in body, thin overall and seems a bit weak for the style, though it’s without flaw.
