Pours a dark brownish-black with a nice cream head with poor retention. Aroma is lovely! Dark chocolate/cocoa, fresh coffee beans, light alcohol. Nice! Tastes quite pleasant; light chocolate, slightly toasted, light diacetyl, nutty, light toffee and vanilla. Body is creamy and chewy but lacks carbonation. Very, very tasty! Tastiest Schwartzbier that I’ve had to date.

Jul 7, 2008 12oz bottle @Joe’s NYC Gathering shared by –pours a thin offwhite head with mahogany color. Aroma is nice dark malt-anise. Taste is dark malt, slight earthy hops. Light/medium body. Enjoyable.

Jun 28, 2008 Thank to Matthew for bringing me a couple of these bottles to share. Dark black colour with a thin white head. Aroma is fairly fruity with loads of cold coffee, some chicory and a bit of toasted cocoa. A kind of watery palate and a grassy/vegetal character. Chewy with a little bit of earthiness and woodiness. Strange beast, this one.

Jun 26, 2008 Bottle at Joe’s tasting. First beer of te night. Very dark brown pour with a slight foam cap. Light sucrose, light roast, beety, wheat. Kind of cucumber and ash flavor, with strong peanut brittle. A bit sharp.

Jun 25, 2008 Bottle… Thinkin’ ‘Bout Thirteen Hours O’ Drinkin’ (tew man wrecking crew)… Clear, very dark, burnt orange lager with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a wealth of chocolate, coffee and fatty nuts. Good roastiness. Medium-bodied with lazy carbonation. Terrific balance. Acidic, roasted notes with a touch of sassafras. Roasted, bitter finish. Thanks go out to SoLan for sharing this one!
