Draft to flute. Aroma of flowers, orange, and strong grapefruit. Pours a clear dark amber with a thin creamy head. Taste is piney grapefruit throughout with a nice tannic dryness, and nuttyness at the end.

Some hops and booze in aroma, though not very balancedar. Finishes a little odd, with mismatched bitterness and some astringency . Pours close orange with some head and lacing.

Bottle @ Calgary Beer Fest. Pours clear copper with a large, foamy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, and floral hops with peach and pear esters, caramel and cookie malt. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, light fruity esters, supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

Pretty smooth for a Double IPA... I thought it was slightly watery... head disappears pretty quickly. Caramel sweetness and the usual fruity IPA taste (grapefruit).

Thanks to Reimer for this. This beer has a lot of potential, it just seems like you are left wanting more. Pours a dark copper with a small white lacing. Aroma is caramel malt and light pine hops. Taste is well balanced with the caramel malt sweetness and the pine hops profile. But again, you want more.

Pine, wood and caramel dominate nose. Mouth is med-full, malt accented. Fairly round, but lacks a lot of depth. Decent enough, but pretty middle of the road for the style.

I guess I never rated this. Drank side by side with the oak aged version, but i’ve decided not to bother adding that beer because i was told it was a one time only release. Rusty orange and clear with a pillowing white head. Some piney hops light floral, but not very strong. Tangy bitterness, very sweet, toffee and some pine. I’m actually not remembering this beer being this enjoyable. I usually avoid it, but it’s changed or i have,

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2013 Nice clear copper with small white head disappearing quickly but leaves a beautiful white lace. Aroma is floral, perfumy, sweet malts, expected more of a hop aroma. Flavour is caramel malt, moderate sweetness, medium bitterness that blends with alcohol making this an easy drinker but is short all around from being a fantastic dpa. Overall a tasty beer and could drink several in one sitting but not a contender for a top dipa.
