3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Barley Brothers (Winnipeg). I didn't know anything about this beer going in, but it kind of blew me away. Lightly boozy nose, some chocolate, cinnamon and spice. Flavour was chocolate - but not too much - with some nice spiciness, notes of caramel and vanilla, and a full mouthfeel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (355 ml). From dresden and Paul, thanks guys! Dark brown with a low beige head and little to no lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and light spices. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and a strong spicy/peppery finish. Medium body. Chalky mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Not really complex, but the cayenne pepper add something interested. I’m glad we split the bottle 3 way though.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark brown with red reflects. Low beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate. Taste is of vanilla, hot spices, peppers (very intense and overbold). Palate: Medium body. Hot peppers ruin it all. Overall: Too hot. That pepper is really too bold and out of place here. It’s a shame, because the aroma was enticing. We are talking drain pour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2014 Bottle shared with northropfrye. Deep chocolate aroma. Fluffy head. Chocolate coloured body and pretty good chocolate taste with a pleasant burning sensation at the end. Definitely hot chocolate.
Re-Rate on tap at Barley Bros. Like it better on tap than I did before.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2014 Thanks dresden for this one. Dark brown body with brown head, some lacing. Lovely cocoa aroma, vanilla. Taste is semi-sweet, a touch of hot chilli on the palate, which I just read was part of the description. Good, because you can taste it, though subtle. Cool beer. Re-rate on tap at barley bros. cinnamon taste like a nice warm cookie with a touch of heat in the aftertaste. Nice upped the rating by one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark black pour with a little bit of tan head that hits the bricks real quick. Lots of chocolate on the nose, smells like a gulp of sugar. Well that was surprising..the taste is a hint of everything at first little bit of chocolate, bit of sweetness but it is quickly overtaken by the spice, overall not bad, not overly complex but a worthwhile sipper.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an opaque black with a big but short lasting tan head that amounts to a thin ring. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, vanilla, some roasted malts and a touch of spice underneath. Flavour is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, a mild bitterness, then slowly the cayenne pepper hits, it warms all the way down and adds a perfect little kick to it. Theres no alcohol noticeable on this for a 7.5 beer.
