650ml bottle pours reddish black in color with 2 fingers of light beige head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominted by chocolate. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with some roast bitterness and light hops in the finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle from 2006. Pours very dark. lots of mocha head retention. Nose of chocolate, nuts, and coffee. Some malty notes as well. Taste is similar to aroma. Lots of chocolate. Very roasted flavor. Nice bitterness to balance it out. A little thin but overall not bad.

So, yea, this is a pretty old review that I never posted from back in early/mid 2007... better late than never.
Pretty much totally black, poured out a thick brown head which did go to a ring, minor spotty lacing. The aroma is complex - deep roast, borderline burnt, thick almonds or hazelnuts, chocolate, some coffee, some mild hops. Really good flavours of chocolate, bitter hops, good dark roasted malts, this beer is huge! Hard bitterness that is a combo of the coffee and hops, some nuttiness and dryness. Full dodied, smooth, minor carbonation, some initial sweetness that goes to mid strength then finishes huge with tons of coffee bitterness, total mouth cover, less hoppy bitterness when at room temperature. Crazy breath! Totally drinkable and I wish I had lots.

Very dark dark brown, no cap was produced at all no matter how hard I poured the brew into the glass only a small sparse ring of bubbles around the glass, when I swirl to try to get more of a cap nothing happens, this looks very thick and oily. Mild aroma, mostly consisting of bitter chocolate, some earthiness, and camp fire smoke hiding in the back, I guess this aroma is ok just a little too mild and not exactly all that exciting. Flavor seems all wrong very watery and light, this seems like a diet pop with a aspertain taste. Mouth feel is horrid soft watery and completely flat. Overall the only way I can describe the taste is diet burnt water with a dry finish. Highly disappointed with this brew the fact that the beer was completely flat with zero carbonation ruined the look and mouth feel and the complete lack of anything worth talking about for flavor killed this beer. It’s not like it tasted bad it just tasted like a watered down beer. This must have been just a bad bottle after reading the other reviews of it, might try it again if I get it for free. Review done while watching Mythbusters.

Floral and earthy hops, chocolatey sweet malts and some lactic, milky character in the nose. Opaque black body topped by a low tan head that recedes to ring with light spotty lacing. Almost a burnt roasted flavour that is quite grainy with some bittersweet cocoa in the finish. Somewhat watery in character with moderate carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle. Thanks, CapFlu!

Bottle from CapFlu. Black with brown edges with a very fluffy tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate, cream, light roastiness. Taste is roasty, light chocolate, lightly watery.

Bottled sample via paco. Near black in colour with low to medium carbonation. Aromas are of chocolate extract, cherry pits, and a bit of English hops. More chocolate in the mouth, along with some roasted malts, vanilla, and pale malts. Somewhat watery in the mouth, but with a fair bit of roast on the finish. Not bad, but I was expecting more.

Bottle. Dark allmost black colour with a little head. Great aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavour of coffee, roastedness and ends up sour, but in a harminie way, ends up bitter and dry.

Very dark brown. Rich dark chocolate, molasses, malt aroma. Soft, yet chewy malt character with dark chocolate notes. Lots of roast. Slightly watery finish tempers this.

Dark chocalate with white head, and chocolate in aroma. Middling mouthfeel, bittersweet taste with drying finish. Quite good porter.
