Draught at Paddy’s Brewpub, Sydney. Pale yellow with tiny white head. Light fruit and malt. Has a noticeable hoppy bitterness but on the overall balance of things it’s seriously lacking any sharp qualities. It’s quite unpleasant with a forgettable finish.

Draught at Paddys Pub. Arrived golden orange with a frothy, white head which was average lasting. Aroma was very light notes of floral hops and sweet grainy malts but this was overpowered buy strong notes of butterscotch (diacetyl) and cooked butter. Flavor was just unpleasant with sweet grainy malts, a metallic bitterness, butterscotch, lemon zest and a finish resembling that of an infected/expired brew. Light bodied with lively carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, watery texture and a bad finish. Not sure what was wrong with this one, bad batch? or just bad pilsner? but it was not the beer described in previous ratings, in all truth I would have preferred forcing down another summer larger – yuck!

Lovely clear golden body with a solid head that left good lacing all down the glass. Fresh and crisp hop bite that went down well, good length and supported well by the malts. I liked this one the most out of the ones I tried at the pub and brewery.

Deep golden color. The nose reminded me of opening a bag of barley. Hops weren’t strong in nose. Some bitterness in back of mouth and a malty finish. Would do better with some extra hops added, but still pleasent.

Relatively dark for a pils, more of an amber colour really, sweet nose, no distinctive hop aroma. Rather thick palate, too sweet, definitely not a crisp refreshing pils. Yet another disappointment from this days trip to Paddys.

I didn’t mind this as a refreshing beer but I ’spose I have to rate it as a Pilsner, which i’m told by a more knowledgable colleague is lacking in some areas. That is a problem I suppose, consistancy, as I’m rating a different brew from people below, ah well. Too fruity, too cloudy.

This one proved to be a very satisfying beer. Some butter and grassy saaz in the aroma. A good bitterness that lingered, with a lovely malty finish. Might be time for another trip to Paddy’s.

Lovely fresh-tasting Australian pilsener. Geez, Paddys brewer Calum Service is doing some good work out in Sydney’s boondocks. It’s a bit like finding David Beckham playing for Accrington Stanley in the Nationwide Conference. This one was gold with busy carbonation and a lasting head. Didn’t care for the aroma which had a touch of wet dog about it initially but developed bready malts once it warmed. Lovely soft mouthfeel. Very malty, with a little squeeze of lemony tartness and a big Saaz finish. Yum! Marmalade and passionfruit - very juicy. Thought this was a cracker. (Draught at the brewpub)
