| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | May 16, 2006 beer is delivered in traditional 2cl glass at the brewery (straight from the wooden cask). appearance is a brilliant pale gold with a dense and creamy white head that retains super well and leaves gorgeous lacing. nose is a wonderful balance of grainy/grassy pilsner malt and the traditional spiciness of german noble hops. flavor is a superb balance of light, cracker-dry german malt and the pungently spiced flavor of noble hops. for such an over-all mild beer, there is a lot of flavor in there.

nothing could be better, you could say that it is my reference.
it ist pretty malty, a light one - typical for koelsch - and is only served in some selected pubs.
you should try it at the place where it ist made: the Paeffgen Haousebrewery. scowlzineamg99 (8), San Francisco, California, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Only available in wooden kegs at a handful of bars in Cologne. Lightly malted, crispy and wholehearted (as a Kölsch can be). It is normally only available in wooden casks in a few pubs in Cologne (Hausbrauerei Päffgen, Brauhaus Salzgasse, Lommerzheim and Max Stark), but at Max Stark I have seen swing top bottles of Päffgen Kölsch a few weeks ago. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2005 A bit different from the typical Kölsch: maltier, hoppier, less dry. Color 9 EBC, bitterness about 30. The tastiest of all Kölsches; the least typical. Good food at the brewery and their Altstadt tap as well. omhper (12335), Stockholm, Sweden
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden, creamy head. Salty and fruit. richly hoppy with soft, vital yet light body. Nice and soft, very refreshing. Dry and lively with growing late bitterness. What’s not to like in this beer? It’s delicious! A showpiece and subtle and quaffable real Kölsch can be.
