3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Syzzer (216) - Oregon, USA - NOV 14, 2011
I found this beer a bit too syrupy and with a sour finish. It does have a great molasis nose. Those who like sweet stouts may find this one nice.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cybercat (1735) - Georgia, USA - JUL 6, 2011
Pours a lovely opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled and rather persistent light tan head. Aroma is oily, yeasty and smoky with nutty, coffee and molasses hints. Smoky flavor has tones of coffee, molasses, nuts and toffee, a bit on the thin side but still enjoyable. Texture is quite smooth, just a teensy watery and only mildly fizzy. Not the best stout I have ever had, but still decent.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 cmonster (611) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 13, 2010
Bomber served in an English pint. Pours nearly black with a medium sized beige head. Short retention, decent lacing. Aromatic nose of cocoa, soy, and coffee. The soy or what-not dominates the palate and makes this nearly undrinkable. Let me try again... there’s some roast... and yes, there’s the soy syrup again sticking through the finish. No likey. This may be a tainted bottle.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (5631) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Bomber, thanks to Brandon! Poured clear cola brown with a huge beige head that filled the glass quickly. The aroma picked up sweeter, but near-burnt black patent and dry dark chocolatey malts with lightly sour coco and vanilla accents.. simple-ish construction, but basically what I want out of my dry stouts. The flavor found more burnt black patent at the core, with lesser dark chocolates and molasses rolling outward.. dry and roasty overall, losing most of the apparent sweetness from the nose.. light malty sourness worked well in here. Light-medium-bodied and very dry on the palate with lots of carbonation.. flow was decent, but was somewhat impeded by the carbonation.. overall very solid for the style.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beardface (1480) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - AUG 8, 2010
Bomber from Belmont Station enjoyed after watching The Pixies kick some ass down here in Eugene. Poured dark brown with a small tan head. Smelled of roast, grains and some small amount of oats plus a small hint of chocolate. Tasted of roasted malt, light chocolate and oats as well and was shockingly weak for a stout. Not one I’ll need to drink again. As usual, this beer left me saying "Thanks a lot, Salem."
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 boFNjackson (2705) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 2, 2010
Tap @ Concordia Ale House... Poured near black with amber highlights and a tan head. A nice, and light, dry stout. Good amount of roast with a low, no hop profile. Dark chocolate bitterness and mocha towards the finish. Herbal, earthiness and slight toffee.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 troopie (1557) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - OCT 12, 2009
Bottle. Poured black with thick beige head. Full aroma of coffee, roast, malt. Full mouth, flavours of roasted malt, good quality coffee, en ’n bietje hop.
Lingering malty finish. Low enough in alcohol to be a session beer but very full flavoured.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reid (1385) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - MAY 16, 2009
Couple of "pounders" at Stone Front Tavern Salem.
Typical dark mahogany, almost black stout colour with a very nice creme coloured thick head, lots of lace after awhile.
Pleasing roasty,toasty oatish aromas.
Good roasted malts ,dark chocolate and darker coffee flavours.
Very dry stout, this is smack bang in the middle of the style.
I found the dryness promoted drinkability and had to stop at two because i was driving, though at 4.4% this has the potential to be a real sessioner.
Well done Salems first new independent brewer for quite some time
