Taste is medium sweet, orange/grapefruit, some caramel, light floral. APAish. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 3, 2006 12oz bottle shared courtesy of DenverLogan. Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of orange peel, spices, and light pine. Tastes of oranges, pine, light caramel, and a little fruity. Not overly bitter. hopscotch (5441), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 21, 2009 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Mostly clear, dark amber ale with and orange hue and a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is caramely, nutty and well-roasted. Wafts of caramel, toffee, praline and earthy hops ascend from the glass. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Like the aroma, the flavor is mainly malt-forward - lots of caramel layered upon toffee and mild chocolate with an earthy bitterness that serves to balance and enhance instead of engulf. Finishes well-balanced and satisfying. Perfect IPA for a malt head like me, but plenty of hop flavor to satisfy almost anyone. India Scotch Ale? Much love and thanks to Tinkerbell for thinking of me during her Colorado beer and mead travels! bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Dec 4, 2005 (Bottle) Pours an amber body with a moderate white head. Aroma and flavor of pine hops. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 29, 2006 on tap-pours a light tan head with a hazy copper color. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste is citrus hops, medium malt-sweet. Good carbonation. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Jul 10, 2008 12oz bottle pours light caramel amber in color with a small head. Nose centers mostly on some lightly sweet/hoppy fruits, but there’s a mild yet distinct nut/caramel/bread note that I don’t really dig. The hop bitterness and flavor never really develops into anything appreciable, instead it’s muddled and simple and ultimately a disappointment. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Mar 23, 2004 Amber tocopper in color with a big bubbly head, yellow/tan in color. Grapefruit and sweet dough aroma. Medium near oily feel. Raw hops hit from the start. With light pine and sharp citrus components. Finish finds some malt and helps me enjoy this one a touch more. More of an APA/ American IPA as Ernest calls it. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 3, 2003 Updated: Mar 4, 2008Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation. A competent IPA with a nice mouthfeel. Quite dry in the finish with both citric acidity and assertive bitterness, but there’s just enough malt to keep it enjoyable.
