Commercial Description:
Red Truck IPA is an American India Pale Ale, generously dry hopped to give this beer a full hop aroma and flavor, but with a strong caramel malt profile that balances the intense hop flavor and aroma with a slight sweetness that makes this beer a rich experience in flavor.

Amber tocopper in color with a big bubbly head, yellow/tan in color. Grapefruit and sweet dough aroma. Medium near oily feel. Raw hops hit from the start. With light pine and sharp citrus components. Finish finds some malt and helps me enjoy this one a touch more. More of an APA/ American IPA as Ernest calls it.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation. A competent IPA with a nice mouthfeel. Quite dry in the finish with both citric acidity and assertive bitterness, but there’s just enough malt to keep it enjoyable.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Brennan’s Country Farm Market in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with a decent white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus zest, some light spruce, multi-grain malt and a hint of biscuit. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of grapefruit, toasted biscuity malt, some pine and a hint of tart berries. Finish is semi-dry with a metallic grapefruit and Cascade-ish hop aftertaste that slowly disappears.

Bottled. Poured medium orangey-amber with a tall, fluffy, sticky cap of off-white head.. nice lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up slightly tart red fruits, caramel, and some biscuity notes with dusty and abrasive (two different things) accents.. started out good, but didn’t come together in the end. The flavor found the same fruits and caramel at the core with pine and floral bitterness around.. the bitterness became too assertive with too little balance on the back.. tacky on the finish. Light-medium bodied and bitter on the palate.. balance and feel just weren’t there.

Stumbled across this one on the western slope of Colorado. Reddish amber with a big sticky, cumulus head. Nice citric aroma. Full-on and lingering grapefruit flavors on par with the best micro IPAs, but perhaps not quite as well balanced.

On tap @ Palisade Brewery poured a clear copper with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light citrus and floral hop notes. Palate waslight bodied smooth and slightly dry. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and a hint of grapefruit rind with a smooth bitter finish.

Thanks to whaleman. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with an off white lightly lacing head. Aroma of orange, pine and a sweet caramel malt balance. Flavor of piney hops and some citrus. Very decent IPA.
