3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 thanatosti (584) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 17, 2013
33 cl. bottle as Palm Hop Select @ home, bought somewhere in Belgium. Hazy light amber with a white head. Hoppy aroma. Nice twist on the regular Palm.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mike_77 (1957) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 16, 2013
Not very impressive. Flavour is rather sweet. Muted hop struggles to deliver any bitterness or bite against a citric and sugary overall taste.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mile (2100) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 15, 2013
Bottle. Golden, hazy, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and fruitiness, light herbal hoppyness and light alcohol. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some caramel and light fruitiness, light hoppyness with light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some caramel and light hoppyness, some alcohol. Lightly hopped ale - too much caramel/alcohol.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jfb (2517) - GERMANY - MAY 15, 2013
(bottle) pours a hazy amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of herbal hops and barnyard, slightly earthy, with a hint of caramel and sweet spices. flavour is mostly the same, heavy barnyard, some alcohol and caramel, very sweet, with a medium-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bontus (566) - Waasmunster, BELGIUM - MAY 14, 2013
Bottle, 33cl, Maes Dendermonde. Pours orange clear golden. Dense white head, shining. EU hop nose, bit grassy. With a cookie undertone. Aroma more malty, decent bitterness, but lacks hop aroma. Medium carbonation, overall a refreshing ale, but poorly hopped.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 gEUS (573) - Linden, BELGIUM - MAY 9, 2013
330 ml bottle - under Palm Hop Select. Aromas are quite absent. Taste is expecially metallic , only the aftertaste has some malt and subtle European hop influences (greens, pine). Very plain belgian "hoppy" beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Douberd (619) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 5, 2013
330 ml bottle, as Palm Hop Select. ABV 6%. Poured into a tulip glass, 1.65€
Deep orange copper colour with minimal activity in it. Two full fingers of thick, soapy head, white on colour, with average retention and medium lacing left on the glass.
Aroma is malty mainly but there is more than enough hoppy aroma as well to cover it. Pine, resin, some citrus notes bringing limes to mind.
Taste follows the aroma, with moderate bitterness. Becomes more bitter on the aftertaste, after the lime notes are gone. Nice taste neverteless.
Thin to medium body with average carbonation.
Not bad, nice cross breed between a belgian pale ale and an IPA.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 MathiasVDP (6) - Zeebrugge, BELGIUM - MAY 4, 2013 does not count
A little bit sweet in the nose, also in taste I find the caramel malt and a pit of copper. To be a "HOPPER" I don’t find enough hop in it, not in the aroma and not in the taste.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 berntholer (134) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 29, 2013
small ivory white head that disappears quickly, no lacing. yellow-orange clear colour. hoppy skunky and sweetish aroma. faint hop bitternes followed by a sweet aftertaste. according to the label this was hopped 3 times and afterwards dry-hopped .. but can’t really detect hops. this rating concerns the palm hop select which imho is a bit better than the palm hopper.(bottle 33cl / notes from backlog)
