330ml bottle (Alko, Helsinki)
6- Gentle sweet lightly-roasted grains.
4 Decent amber, tiny persistent head.
6+ Very pleasant sweet bready restronasals, with a fair fruity ester component too. No sign of 7.5% at this stage.
3+ Smooth sweet body, tingly carbonation, assisted by some biting hops. After the first swallow, there’s a huge hoppy bite, which is a little papery and astringent. Soon afterwards, a waft of alcohol follows, so I daren’t let this warm up too much more.
12 Never really expected much from Palm, they’re consistently mediocre, and, while this may not be very good, it’s at least a drinkable strong ale, even if a rather dead one.

For my 900th rating, I shall imbibe in a fine Belgian brew.... then again, maybe not - Palm Royale is in my fridge! Pours beautifully even when chilled, a nice big head and a smooth yellow body with plenty of carbonation. Hoppy aroma reminiscent of so many other Belgian blondes. Taste is smooth hoppyness - simple but effective, and very drinkable. Much better than I expected.

La tipica ale "belga" che non mi va di bere, anzi, direi il paradigma del genere. Non molto diversa da una qualsiasi Affligem o simili.

Bottle. Pours golden amber with an off white head. Malty grainy aroma with a light sweetness. The flavor has some grainy sweetness and a yeasty spicy note. Decent.
